Brian Tyler is Dragonball Composer
We confirm:
Hi Adam,
I am indeed scoring the film. Wow, it is already on IMDB, that was quick! I am a huge Dragon Ball fan and have been ever since the anime back in the 80s and then of course DBZ so needless to say, I am absolutely thrilled about getting the opportunity to be composing the score for the film. I really feel the music for Dragonball can be such a vital part of the way the audience will experience the excitement and fantasy of the story and genuinely feel the evolution of the characters (Goku, Piccolo, Yamcha, Roshi, Chi Chi, Bulma, etc). There is such a rich back story to these characters and their stories evolve in such interesting and cool ways in the Dragon Ball mythology. I think is important for the music to deliver a sweeping, exciting, fantasy, epic, and science fiction feel to the movie to really give it that amazing scope and depth that it deserves. I have utter faith in James’ vision for the film as well. Thanks for saying hello!
Cheers,
Brian Tyler
Our friend JP also received a response from Brian.
Dragonball is a dream of mine to score. I have been a fan for as long as I can remember. I am going to do my utmost to reflect the epic tone of the story and capture the amazing richness of the characters. I love how the characters of DB are no simply good or evil. How throughout the mythology of DB they change allegiances (Piccolo) or have something inside them that is dark (Goku with his Oozaru side). It is classic epic story telling and I want the rest of the world (the non-DB fans) to experience what we already know. That Dragon Ball is one of our great modern mythologies.
Cheers,
Brian
We look forward to hearing Brian’s work on the film!

I hope that there’s a lot of kato and gong and stuff
March 8th, 2008 at 7:15 am
I hope it’s more sci-fi oriented. But yeah, that would be good as well.
March 8th, 2008 at 7:32 am
Don Davis , Hans Zimmer they are great , but hope that Brian Tyler to make a good job with the soundtrack.
March 8th, 2008 at 7:41 am
Brian Tyler is good and all, but I really want to hear Emmy Rossum sing on the “Dragonball” movie soundtrack
I luv her song “Slow me down”

YES!!!! Brian Tyler is an excellent choice for Dragonaball. I think he is the best composer in Hollywood today. His scores for Rambo, Children of Dune, Aliens vs Predator: Requiem, Frailty, Constantine, and The Hunted are all amazing but honestly, many of those films did not live up to his scores. He is a genius at themes, orchestral music, and many of his scores have an percussive Asian flair (War, Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, Rambo, Bangkok Dangerous). Check out “Children of Dune” score. It is epic and haunting. In fact, it is used for trailers all the time including the Narnia movies and the new Indiana Jones trailer. This is great news!

Friggin cool! Brian Tyler is my favorite composer. As a long time fan of DB and DBZ this really makes my day. Can’t wait!
March 8th, 2008 at 8:36 am
Ooooooooh! This is the BEST news I’ve heard in a while! “Children of Dune”, “Partition”, and “Bug” are some of my favorite soundtracks, all by Brian Tyler! His recent work on Rambo was awesome too. He’ll be perfect for Dragonball, which happens to be one of my favorite childhood cartoons. I’m so excited to see how this movie will turn out, *especially* now that I know that Brian Tyler will be doing the soundtrack! This is going to be so kickass! I’m jumping up and down like a retarded non-video game version of Super Mario Brothers on crack now. Weee!

Very very cool. Tyler’s Rambo soundtrack was awesome. His Timeline and AVPR scores were mondo! I love that piece he did for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I didn’t know he did that. It is great. After hearing that I have to say that I think Tyler is an even better choice for the film than Hans Zimmer.
March 8th, 2008 at 2:45 pm
Yeah! I got to admit the musical score was real good in Constintine, War, and The Fast and furious: Tokyo drift. Bryan Tyler does have that Japenese feel to his orchestral. It’s gonna be nice to hear him do the musical score for Dragonball.
March 8th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
I guess he sounds alright. He’d better be more than that tho
I hope they have music from the show composed by him. Rock the Dragon! should be in there somewhere in some form, my opinion.

um why would brian tyler lie to me?
March 8th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
What is Robert’s problem? Brian Tyler is scoring the film. And it makes sense because I remember Tyler mentioned being a big Dragon Ball fan when doing an interview for Aliens vs Predator Requiem last year. He said something about being a science fiction fanboy which is really cool for someone who scores Hollywood films. His scores are amazing. And he is one of us!
March 8th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Wow! To speek the truth that’s a little RanDom! Ehh, I’m just happy we got some Dragonball fan that is working for the movie!

Hey David Ticas when are you going to make another update vid?
March 9th, 2008 at 6:16 am
very nice to see that a composer like Brian say that it`s a Dragon Ball fan
March 9th, 2008 at 9:05 am
Brian Tyler is quickly becoming one of the best composers in the game right now. The fact he’s composing “Dragonball” gives me instant comfort that this movie will have great music.
March 9th, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Awesome news!!, and its good to know hes also a DB fan, which means he will put his soul and heart on composing the score for this movie.
March 10th, 2008 at 7:43 am
My friend got a signed copy of his Constantine soundtrack when Brian Tyler was at a booth signing stuff at Comicon last year. Gotta love it. His score for Star Trek Enterprise about the Borg was kick ass as well. It is great to see the right guy is scoring the film.
March 14th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
Check out his “War” score. It was the Jet Li and Jason Statham movie that came out recently. Great music by Brian Tyler in it.
March 26th, 2008 at 12:16 am
my advice to get a good interpretation of db fight music is to check out amv dragonballz at youtube.com ive seen really well put together movie music videos
April 1st, 2008 at 7:24 am
I hope Brian Tyler makes a fantastic score.
One of the main success of db and dbz was its background music.
It would grip to you to the moment and action and makes you anticipate and await the further moments.
for example the music when time is up for gohan and piccolo and goku is just about to reach in the battle along with nappa and vegeta the music sends ur adrenaline rushing.
Vegeta distraught score during android and cell saga which shows his want to become no.1
cell horror type score to put fear in his opponents
majin buu music was like a small child/joker to show his innocent as well as evil side
goku super sayan 3 transformation music
AND final finishing move music
Everything fell in the right places.
I think the music is going to be a huge factor in the dragonball saga
April 28th, 2008 at 5:46 am
I totally agree with Gotenks on this one.

Well….I do hope that they do not stray to far from the original DB/DBZ music, as they supplied the series with a lot sucess. The muisic instantly affected the whole scene; it made it calm to thrilling in a matter of sceonds.
From what I can gather, Brian Tyler is a good composer, so he shouldn’t, hopefully, deter from the already great DB/DBZ music.
Also, I would like to see that they, just like in the series, supply individual characters with their own music; Piccolo and Vegeta are notable characters who do have their own music.
Anyway, I can’t wait for it to come out, and I wish the film company all the best.
June 7th, 2008 at 4:42 am
eeeyy and mario ? He will sing in the DB movie to
?

June 17th, 2008 at 4:16 am
hi hope will b able to watch that film bkz i realy like it and would like to b sangoku in that all the best frm the best
June 18th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
I really hope he gets a sound that gets near to the way the Japanese music made the series feel. The american music just made it dark and depressing.

this would be a great movie but thay should put in frezer or cell, now that would be kick ass !!!
