There’s a guy on Hoycinema that says he’s close to the production in Durango and wanted to give us some news. All rumors til proven official, but we can still give the people the news. Here’s what I could get from what he said, sorry if it’s not great but it was in spanish, well anyway here you go…
1) Says there’s a possible date change, to either December or January 09.
2) Planned to have a video game, toys, action figures, and all kinds of merchandise related to the film.
3) Justin Chatwin is signed for a possible sequel, if the production goes well.
4) The official Dragonball website will be launched this summer the same time they begin to run the advancement of audio-visual film.
5) James Wong( who will direct the sequel if the first one’s successful) has thought of names: Joaquin Phoenix (Gladiator) or Jonathan Rhys Myers (MI3, Match Point) for the role of Vegeta, the enemy on the script of the second movie.
And a mexican website posted a little something about Dragonball. Here’s what I could make out of it…and again I apologize for the translating.
Dragonball was shot in parts of Durango and 45 percent in the Mexican capital. The first scenes were shot in the Unitec campus, were part of facilities has been rented with 30 luxury cars. A luxurious residence in the Desierto de los Leones has been rented too ( we know that in the movie it will be an asian-style house where a student party takes place, and where Goku will fight with the strongest student of the party.) And also that they hired 1,430 extras, of which 120 had knowledge of martial arts.

Thanks Sean.
I decided not to post that because we have enough rumors and contradictions, but if it turns out to be true I’ll be sure to thank you for the translation.
March 28th, 2008 at 7:12 am
I know most people already knew this, but still some of it’s kinda new
March 28th, 2008 at 7:16 am
It’s no problem Adam, and I agree with you too about the rumors, but there’s no reason not to hope, it could be true

When Dragonball comes out we should all have on our gi’s on opening day. Im going to get a custom made Gi as soon as I see a picture of Chatwin’s Gi. Im going to have Master roshi’s logo on the back of my gi. When the 2nd Dragonball movie comes out im going to switch it to King ki’s logo. Im not going to change my hair though. Well maybe I will???? I don’t know????
March 28th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
*sigh* I speak spanish and you guys totally misinterpreted what the original article that introduced Luis’s character said. “Teto” which is pronounced [theh-thoe] not TEE TOE, is just another name for a nerd, it’s slang in spanish to show that it’s a nerdy or weird type of character.
March 28th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Lol Corey, you SHOULD change your hair too, otherwise it wont be realistic and fair. The hair is a must.
March 28th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
Alex,
Is that even important? We don’t speak Spanish we were just having fun!
March 28th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Corey, why do you have to wait to see a picture of Chatwin’s gi? We already know what Goku’s gi looks like and it’s awesome!
March 28th, 2008 at 9:55 pm

March 28th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
very entertaining podcast… good stuff
March 28th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
Alex, Teto is probably a slang for nerd in mexican-spanish, because it doesnt mean anything here in Venezuela. I really thought the name of the character was Teto, until it was pointed out that Teto means “nerd” in Mexico.
March 28th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
oh and robert g, if you’re hoping for joaquin to play vegeta you better pray that he starts lifting and gettin on the roids’… i’d be pissed if vegeta wasn’t muscular as hell
March 28th, 2008 at 11:43 pm
Vegeta looks like Jet Li, a little.
March 29th, 2008 at 2:04 am
It is Mexican Spanish slang, I knew all along his name wasn’t that and when I read the description of Weaver… I tried to tell so many people but no one really commented. But I’m glad it got cleared up though.
March 30th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
vex????-vegeta is a little man……..what are u talking about?????????-he looks just like him!
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:01 am
Where did you get that info on James Wong expressing his thoughts on Meyers and Phoenix?
April 3rd, 2008 at 3:43 pm
dude joaquin doesnt have the voice talent to play vegeta, or the look, justin theroux would be beast!
