Chow Yun-Fat Mentions Dragonball

Monday, March 24th, 2008
Chow Yun-Fat very briefly mentioned Dragonball in this recent article.

Chow seems to have lost some weight since his last appearance in Hong Kong and he smiled that he had has lost around 10 lbs because he was not able to acclimatise to the conditions during filming for Dragonball recently in Mexico. He joked that he was detoxing by eating gravel like dogs and cats do.

It would appear as though he did not shave his head for the role, but perhaps they used a bald cap.

In addition to that, DBMB reports that James Marsters (Piccolo) had gotten his teeth bashed in on the set of Dragonball.

James Marsters, who played Spike on the show, refused to smile because, he said, he’d had his teeth bashed in on the set of Dragonball, the Chow Yun-Fat movie filming in Mexico. Marsters said he’d come directly from the airport to the Buffy reunion, and didn’t want to show us his pearly whites until he’d seen a dentist.

It looks like IMDB leaked a screenshot from the movie just a little too early. Any information on the picture would be appreciated. Luis Arrieta (Weaver) and Shavon Kirksey (Emi) are the students in the picture. Thanks to Sean for pointing me to the link.

It would appear as though they are studying an eclipse. This could have something to do with Piccolo:

[LORD PICCOLO] An ancient being who despite his humanoid appearance, is from an alien race determined to take over the world. Piccolo is the cursed ruler of a demonic race who nearly destroyed Earth 2000 years ago, and with the coming of the eclipse and the possession of all seven Dragon Balls, he’s prepared to free himself and do the job right this time.

That’s a Wrap

Hey guys,

Happy Easter! I hope you are all painting eggs, rolling eggs and eating lots of chocolate bunnies!

Sorry it’s been all quiet on the western front. I’ve been so busy in Mexico finishing up Dragonball but we just wrapped yesterday so I JUST got home and this is my first opportunity in front of my computer to write to you. It’s been nuts for about a month and a half working nights (on a schedule of about 5pm-8am) outside, but our spirits have been high and it was such a blast. I’ve missed writing to you but I’ve been exhausted after coming home from work early in the morning. I’m finally home (at least for a few weeks) and it’s a mixture of happy and sad. Wrapping a movie is kind of like the end of school, you miss all your friends that you’ve bonded with so much but you are eager for a little rest and a break from all the hard work. I’ll be starting work on something else in 3 weeks so I wont have much time to rest but I’m really looking forward to the simple things that I can enjoy while being home, getting to see my friends, sleeping in my own bed, hanging out with my puppies (who are growing so fast!) and eating at my favorite restaurants.

On another note, due to some personal things that have been going on with my family, I’m getting involved in a new charitable outreach that I’ll be able to tell you about soon. It’s something really close to my heart so I hope to share that with you and raise awareness as much as we can.

I worked out how to video blog (bear with me, please) so I’ll be sending you something later this week.

Lots of love..

Dragonball Movie Podcast Episode 1

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008
Aw, hell no. I don’t know why, maybe out of complete boredom, but for some unexplainable reason JP (Dragonballmovieblog) and I (this site) decided to make a podcast. And, as you will hear, I am the worst podcaster in the history of podcasting. And, it doesn’t help we recorded this at 1 am - 2 am, so I’m half asleep throughout the show. I sound about as enthusiastic as Keanu Reeves on a bad day. JP is fine though, a great host. Now that I’ve got you excited, here’s some info:

In this amazing episode of Dragonball Z, we give a brief history on the movie, the cast, the crew, some of the discussions we’ve heard around blogs and forums, and JP has an announcement about a certain composer…

Our podcast is also available on iTunes.
