Working Without Stunt Doubles
Chelo248 informs us of a comment left by Lucille of Emmy Rossum Fan. She states she met James Marsters at Collectormania, and learned the director was only allowing stunt doubles when absolutely necessary.
Random tidbit, but I gained a new appreciation today for how hard Emmy would have worked on Dragonball. I was talking to James Marsters (he plays Piccolo) and he said that it was the hardest job he’d ever had in his life because the stunts were simply so demanding and the director wasn’t letting anybody (including Emmy) fall back on stunt doubles unless it was desperately necessary. I don’t know the extent of Emmy’s stuntwork, but if it’s even half as much as James’ she worked her butt off.

yeah but how much stunts can she even do as BULMA. none the less. its great to see everyone working their butt off for this movie. just makes me more excited to see it. if actors put THAT much dedication into a movie then its definately worth a watch. can’t find very many actors/actresses now a day’s that actually WANT to work their butt off to make a good movie. most just want that big pay check

i saw a picture of Justin’s stunt double and he is really good at martial arts forms; i saw him doing flips and jumping tiger stance twists kicks, tornado cut kicks, crouching crane suicide kicks, turn back front kick stands and rollipolli mosquito praying mantis kicks………….

I have to give my respect to the actors of the film, and I’m sure James told them about that beforehand though too. I wouldn’t think he’d tell them right before the scene was about to begin….but you never know what filmakers are capable of
Even tho I know this movie will rock the fuckin house; if it isn’t THAT great, I’ll still stand and applaud these fine actors for there commitment they portrayed in the movie

that one pic that leaked a while ago showing bulma and gokus stunt double had Emmy standing in front of some HUGE guy. Maybe shes gonna take down and that will require stunts or Yamcha will come and give him the wolf fang fist. Speaking of yamcha, has evryone forgot about him. Its interesting to see wat Joon Park is going to look like

he has long blond hair with black highlights and a goutee (if that’s how you spell it) He had a white tanktop/wifebeater and a wristband. I know that’s not much but’s at least it’s something

For real dude. I actually think this pic of Chatwin is the best thing we’ve gotten so far and for the majority of ppl to think its “Bad”… well thats just really fukin sad.
Anyhow, im glad to hear this bit of info about the the stunts and all, cuz I was afraid that they might just let the stunt doubles take care of everything, but this has reassured me, so im good now.

hey guys i was just informed yesterday my cousin talked to james at some interview thinga majig, and asked him what he might know about for the next 2 movies, james said that the only thing he knew at the moment was that they were talking about how freiza should look and act, and that one of the ideas is that frieza will be more like an uncontrolled beastly animal and be much less smarter than the anime but much more stronger.
its not official news of how he will be, but its an idea sprawled up among the crew working on it..which is cool that they are already throwing around ideas even for the 3rd movie =]

@Cody. Well, if that is true, I hope they don’t have Freeza be an animal. I like Freeza being an intelligent, malevolent creature, and not just some random monster. If they want to have him lose control during the fight with Goku, I’d be ok with that. It would be a nice contrast between calm, top of the universe Freeza and “Oh my god I can’t believe I’m losing to a monkey” Freeza.

I Agree with Sedorna. Frieza is supposed to be the ruler of 80 plus planets, hes smart and sadistic in that way. He is the emperor of a universal empire, a uncontrolable monster wouldnt make much sense.

Well I think its good that they are planning already for the 3rd movie. Thats a good thing. Frieza should be interesting to see. Although I would love Frieza as an uncontrolable monster in the final fight against Goku, like Sedorna said, losing control because he cant believe he is losing to a Saiyan.

I bet this movie will one of the biggest money makers in 2009; Ironman made about 342 million dollars worldwide and I guarantee the fanbase for Ironman is alot less than DB/DBZ.
I think the only other type of movie that will rival this one is another Marvel movie…

Its true that DB´s fanbase is much bigger than Iron Man´s, but Iron Man is still being shown in theaters, so we dont know yet how much will be the final box office for that movie. The key is to make the movie appealing also to non fans, thats why Wong and company decided to make an adaptation of DB and not stay 100% truth to the anime. But still we have crybabies saying they want everything exactly like in the anime, and thats impossible. The manga/anime is excellent but it wouldnt look well into a live action movie. Hence the changes made.

I am really hesitant to contribute this comment but guys i can’t hold back because it’s simply the truth!!! I put my life on it….87 eleven (www.87eleven.com matrix,speedracer,300,etc.) provided stunt doubles for Emmy and Marsters and I can really only speak on Emmy. She did a couple easy things but the majority was her double who was by her side the entire movie and every single sik %$! move from fighting to tricking you see Justin do as Goku was ALL executed by the insanely talented Jackson Spidell, his stunt double.who basically is the un-named star of this movie…..eeeekkk…don’t be mad…. it’s true…..:)
