Daren Dochterman Concept Artist

Daren Dochterman worked on Dragonball as one of the concept artists (the other being Alex Tuis). He has worked on previous films as a storyboard artist, conceptual artist, Illustrator and etc. Here’s an excerpt from io9.com about Daren.

Just look at his concept art for X-Men 3, from the weird thuggish anti-mutant soldiers to the serum gun to the strange laboratory to Magneto’s lair. It’s a dark and disturbing world, far removed from the candy-apple weirdness of Brett Ratner’s vision. He also designed some kick-ass spaceships and some huge alien peaks and citadels for The Chronicles Of Riddick, and did some work on Sky High and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.

What he’s working on: A ton of exciting scifi projects, including Get Smart, Dragonball, The Day The Earth Stood Still and Creature From The Black Lagoon.

    he seems pretty cool. Other than Get Smart those are some pretty big names. They really are going all out for this film.

    @SSj Jon: Man, I was born and raised in Russia, and even there, being freezed to death, I knew what “Get Smart” is, and I loved the show :) So, I guess it’s pretty big name.

    I’ve heard of this guy before, I remember watching one of his doucmentaries; at which he said how hard it was to do the conceptual art for a Star Trek project. But he also said he had alot of fun and it was a new experience so…
    He seemed like he was very dedicated to the project, and I hope Dragonball does the same :wink:

    That explains why Piccolo’s outfit looks like something from Riddick (the Necromongers’ outfits)

    Oi! I like his new outfit. If they made the cape and turban, don’t you think it would be silly for live action? Common… I love DB, but bringing everything into real life is silly!

    all this excitment about piccolo.i really hope they get him right.i dont wanna wait 4ever just to get dissapointed.
    but im 95% percent sure they will do a great job with him

    wow, I hated all of those films. X-men 3 was freaking horrible, so was Charlie and the chocolate factory. Not good news

    @Boomer SL: What for DB? I doubt there will be an actual trailer anytime soon. Maybe a teaser. I would expect to see a trailer before a movie maybe a few months from now. Then again, there has been speculation to a teaser coming about fairly soon. I don’t know much about movie marketing and such. I would hope to see one though! And I can’t wait to see what piccolo looks like!! *excited* :mrgreen:

    @Sean: Sean Schemmel is against it if you ask me. I read a previous comment he told someone in a one-on-one conversation. Here he even said they put him in a political position. He still sounded like he didn’t like it, but was being politically correct so he can keep his job as Goku’s voice in the video games. I would too if I did Goku’s voice.

    @CAT: Who knows. I know it’d look great in CGI. What I DO know is King Piccolo never wore either items. He just war a gi with robes and a red cape on top (he took off the robes and cape when he got ready to fight Goku and never wore them again)

    Looks like we have good all round film crew this film will be great.They don’t show anything because it is that promising to blow your pants off.They want to save you soiling your pants from how incredible this movie will really be.Opening day i’m there all you haters can stay home whinging and watching the old ass series which everyone has grown tired of.WE WANT SOMETHING NEW not the same friggin series all over agian.Fox your doing a great job.

    what is this? a white man playing Goku. thats the reason the movie will fail. come on i have watched the entire animated series and no where a white guy as goku was found, i am not being racist or anything, i myself am white christian, its just that you watch the cartoon and enjoy but when they bloody make real movies they always mess it up, and i have this movie that they are make will ruin DBall’s reputation, why could’nt they find someone of origin race character of goku.
