is it just me, or are just some of the key things that made DB what it is have been being ignored, i mean, bullma was never tough as a teen, she allways whinned and begged goku to fix everything, and goku was never an angry person(not including the transformation)to me, what defined these characters is what defined Dragon Ball and to be honest, i dont care mush for the plot. only for the respect and dedication of the cast towards the characters

just one thing i would like everyone to notice is that the poster is VERY star wars-ish. And if i remember correctly justin made a comment about star wars when discussing his character.

something else is the fact that piccolo seems to have something on his face?
if you look at the nose area you will notice cut offs, very mask like. maybe something close to a sub-zero kind of mask.

Now that I take a closer look at piccolo, I notice… it’s Andross! The monkey boss from Star Fox 64 lol.

Maybe that small slit is his actual nose, and the bit that looks like the nose is the start of the mouth. It would show age. This is good kind of, because it should keep young piccolo secretive while giving fans a look at how he could look much older.

I’m 19 and a huge fan of Dragonball, and I hope they will start to market the action more, cause although I’m going to see this, the hype is half the fun for me, but otherwise its a nice poster/standee, can’t complain.

the top half of the poster with eriko and emmy looks like the cover of a dirty science fiction porno. The bottom half looks a bit more promising. Chi chi looks very wholesome, master Roshi’s face is so photoshoped you’d barely recognise him as Chow Yun Fat- a shame considering he’s the most respectable thing this movie has going for it. Justin looks good, surprisingly. Piccollo ( even if you can only see his eyes ), hmmm, I just have this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that him and all of the rest of the creatures in this movie are going to look cheap and rubbery like something out of beatle borgs or something. I don’t have particularly high expectations for this movie, it had better be either alot better than fantastic 4 or alot worse. If it’s just on par it’s not worth my time. Oh yeah, that’s what this poster reminds me of- fantastic 4! yay! , i mean shit!

this movie to me looks like it will have the same type of modern atmosphere as Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet, it may seem wierd but think about it. But the casting of this movie i think is very good, Chatwin looks great as Goku and can’t wait to see Piccolo fully.

I’ve contacted the webiste who has published this pic, it’s not a fake…
The first one (with the dragonball and the sort of dragon head) wasn’t fake. It’s just Cristina Inman from Fox mexico who has said that it was fake. But now in Japan they have presented it like an official one. Cristina Inman doesn’t always say the thrue…

i like this poster… they have us look’n sexy/serious and all, it really looks great. To all those who are hating me for thinking this is Fake, for one, Shame On You, I can have an opinion, Second, I’ve been following this movie since 2002 and havn’t missed a day where I haven’t visited this site or others to get updates, I’m one of few you thinks this movie will be good, I know my Dragonball. Third, I’m certified in Photoshop and Illustrator, I can see this poster is NOT professional. All I’m saying if, if this is legit, then it’s very poor quality and they could do better. I personally think its a Fake. So there.

First off, Emmy is the perfect Bulma, but i think they could have pull off blue/aqua hair…but w/e, she still looks sweet.
I hated who they picked for Goku, but now hes growing on me and i think he’ll be a great Goku…if they stay true to anime.

In the anime goku was cheerful for half of dragonball until he found outhe killed his grandfather. Then he was serious for a while before he went back to being cheerful.

Ok, I’m a huge Db fan, I really want this movie to be awesome,(I think it will be). But as time has gone on, and I’ve seen more and more stuff come out, my hope is dwindling. To me the poster just looks fake, Ok. You peeps got a problem then whatever, I am entitled to my opinion, you don’t like it then tough crap. I respect yours. My issue is this poster is NOT movie production quality, maybe from a garbage production company but not 20th Fox. Whoever did it, did a good job, but it just isn’t good enough. OK!! i think the reason why Roshi has hair and no beard or mustache is just to give him a more younger look, like hes still somewhat in his prime, you know, like he can still kick some ass (and it has been indicated that Roshi will have fight scenes in the movie right?). this is Dragonball, first movie, why not make him look a little younger and then hopefully in sequels progress his look to the Roshi we all know, they might lose the hair or add the stache and beard in part 2 or both, kinda like Obi Wan in Episode 1, looked real young, then in following films they added the beard, stache and grew his hair out a little, he looked more like Ben Kenobi. i dont know, i think it makes sense.

I don’t know. There’s just something about the lighting, the colors, and the compositing together of the actors that makes me feel like this is a cheap, half-hearted production. The “Dragonball” title at the bottom, in my opinion, looks very pedestrian too. Everything I’ve seen so far has given me greater resolve in concluding this movie is probably going to be all of the things we dread in expectation of a new Wong film, but I’ll try not to be too pessimistic by at least saying I’m glad the Ben Ramsey script was abandoned because that would have spelled certain disaster for this project.

Apparently according to one of the fullum assassins, His character is created and killed by Piccolo and that Piccolo’s form in the begining of the movie is Human to blend in but later goes full piccolo but doesn’t have antennae but is green-yellow. Also his costume is arabian and all Namekians wear black. He also notes that Piccolo goes from Good to Evil where as Goku goes from Bad to Good(explained in movie) And that he does tell Goku that he is a saiyan and there are two endings to the movie(maybe one after the credits) Where in one he spits up and egg.

I have a good bit of faith in this movie. It seems there doing most things sort of right. From what I’ve heard, it is going to rock.

Remember the article in the Jump magazine that said “you might have to train all of 2008 to be able to watch this action-packed intense movie”. After reading that and seeing the anticipated rating “PG” confused me

I had such high hopes when I found out they were doing a DragonBall movie. Then, I found out it was live-action. Why? Why not CGI it like “Advent Children”? They could have both the Japanese and English voice casts do their usual jobs, and all would be well. No wire fu. No “Something About Mary” hair styles. No “who the heck is THAT guy?” reactions when the main character takes the stage. But no. Live action it is.

So, I tried to get excited about the live action aspect. My hopes rose when I found out that Steven Chow had signed on. Surely, he would fight for both the inherent goofiness and the intense battle action from the show and manga.

And then…this. Oi. It just looks lame to me. As big a DB/DBZ fan as I am, I just can’t bring myself to do more than roll my eyes at this poster. What’s the point of making a DB movie if you don’t bother with the iconic images from the show/manga? Bulma’s blue hair. Goku’s gi and goofy grin. This looks like a bunch of teenagers in a PBS afterschool special, for cryin out loud.

I’ll have to see something really astounding plot-wise to even bother waiting in line for this. I can only hope what someone above said is true — they’ll see how badly they went wrong with this DB flick and correct it all for any DBZ ones they decide to mangle. Please, please don’t grind the Goku/Vegeta rivalry into the pitiful-movie dirt!

You know i’ve got nothing against the guy who’s portraying Goku because if they did’nt want a white guy in the first place then Akira Toriyama should’nt have drawn them with sharp features with pointed noses and big eyes as well as a tall body stature and big muscles every one knows (and i’m not saying the asian race is inferior btw) that most if not all asians are naturalluy built smaller thani westies it’s the truth.Just as Islanders are built with more natural protein and Africans have the most muscles tone due to their lifestyle.If they cast a dragonball movie with asians everyone would be soo short and it would look like Dragonball meets the Hobbit.No offence it’s the truth with the exception of yao ming yeh he’s tall but not in proportion like the westies (whites) I’m not white myself so i’m not being biased.

well just look at that picture of trunks where it says bz sagas and episodes and then compare it to the live action Justin Chatwin movie Goku the resemblence is uncanny what with the sharp bone structure on his chin and all.Asians well most have round faces not this distinctive chin structure that you see here.Sorry if it’s harsh but it’s the truth.

I … just can’t express how deeply I pity the actors, the producers and everybody who really believes this movie is going to put it off.
The actors don’t even resemble DB’s characters.
Well, I don’t even mind GT anymore after this stupidy movie.

I’m a big fan of DB and DBZ and I realy don’t think that is movie is going to be the best movie of all times but… I want to see it…
I want to see the changes…

… you know, they can’t make it just like the anime or the manga, is to hard…

…and about the characters and the actors, they don’t chose them for they looks, they chose them for the acting… not for the resemble…

…and just one more thing… you can’t say that a movie sucks without seeing it…just wait for the trailer and than you can say that the hell you, pleople, want…

I think the reason they’re not going with CGI and are going live instead is because everything related to DB and DBZ has been animated so far. I don’t know about you, but i wouldn’t want to sit through something that looks like a drawn out cutscene from Budokai. Furthermore, for those of you who are saying this sucks, how do you know until you’ve seen the movie? You can claim to know about all the shortcomings this movie will have, but until it hits theaters (and demonoid, for you cheap bastards out there) you won’t know for sure. Keep the negative speculations to yourselves and try not to ruin it for those of us who are legitimately curious about how they’re going to pull this off.

Don’t you guys think it’s a little soon to be talking about Vegeta and Frieza? In the Dragonball Universe, this story takes place at least a decade and a half before any of that. Keep your pants on, and if all goes well, we’ll get there eventually.

I agree with dbfan09 change can be good sometimes. Take the DragonBall Z games for example good games and the changes they make are good but they need to make more. Gets boring fighting from the Sayian Saga through the Buu saga over and over and over again. I think that this movie has potential but I know it’s the kind of movie that could go bad very easy. Let’s hope that this movie will do well. And if they do have a sequal lets hope they have Krillin. They wouldn’t have to get someone super short like the guy who played Mini Me because I’ve read that Krillin is around 4 to five feet tall or something. And the issue with his nose they could let him have a nose or they could do like they did with Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies. Again let’s hope this movie does well.

Good point, P, and one I hadn’t thought of. But they’re doing pretty nifty stuff with CGI these days, and it’s almost to the point that it doesn’t really look animated anymore. “Advent Children” certainly didn’t.

Of course, AC cost the world, and I’m not sure they wanna blow that kinda cash on the DB franchise. *shrug* But wouldn’t it be sweet to see the series Goku go Super Saiyan in 3D? Not some guy in a t-shirt?

I know, I know. Wait and see. Maybe it’s not so bad.

Where’s Kirillin, Yajirobe, Tien and Chouzu!!! I would have preferred a movie based around say, the first World Martial Arts comp.

I just hope to god they use a decent amount of wires and dont CG up all the fight scenes.

wtf is this? DB, DBZ & all the multiple spinoffs were originally kitsch, funny and cool. Production values were cheap, repetition regular, storylines dragged out but all in all it was lovable.

The film industry on the other hand, despite their high budgets and lauding of star names, can be experts in ruining already contentious subject matter. This poster looks like a travesty is gonna happen. And Chow Yun Fat being involved is making me cast doubt over some of his earlier excellent work. Surely money isn’t such a corrupter to make you do any (w)hole project? Oh well, roll on the great Hollywood machine and splatter shit all over your audiences. There’s bound to be some of them who’ll love it and lap it up while the rest of us attempt to stop drowning in excrement.

I thought Bulma was going to have the same hair color as in the comics? Here she just has a streak of her original hair color….

I agree with some posters- this doesn’t look like it will be all that great. Goku doesn’t look like Goku, and it doesn’t seem like they will be following the source material too closely.

On the other hand, if the whole Goku-going-to-school-BS is short, and they do an amazing job with Piccolo (James Marsters has never disappointed so far), it could be redeemable. And if they do a good job with the attacks.

I’m personally waiting for the Frieza saga…Vegeta in live action would be awesome.

I had huge hopes for this movie when the original rumors came out.. oh.. what? 10 years ago?!?!? Now the whole thing just seems so lame. WTF is up with the girls?? Its just ridiculous and they’re going to ruin Dragonball forever.
