Exclusive: Jump SQ August Issue

My source in Japan has once again provided us with the goods, and in watermark free glory to boot. This time, we’ve received scans from the August issue of Jump Square magazine.



And here are the cast comments, translated to English.

Justin Chatwin (Goku)

I am very honored to be able to play Goku. When I am playing gentle and loving Goku, I feel as if I am given energy from him. In the movie, I have a lot of great action scenes. After the movie is finished post production, I’ll get to see my Kamehameha appear on the screen, and I get very excited when I imagine that.

Chow Yun-Fat (Master Roshi)

On my career as an actor, it is my first time to play a manga character. Dragonball is read all over the world, have many hard core fans. I hope they won’t be disappointed by my acting (laugh). But to be honest with you, I’m totally satisfied with my performance as Master Roshi.

Emmy Rossum (Bulma)

It is a very exciting thing for me to play Bulma, because I’m a big fan of her myself. She’s intelligent, motivated and has a short temper like a teenager. I really want to make all the fans of her happy.

Joon Park (Yamcha)

I like Dragonball very much because I read it when I was child, so when I got to audition I begged the director to “Please give me any small part, like a man carrying sandbags behind the screen.” (laugh) Furthermore, there is Chow Yun-Fat who is my hero from when I was child. This is a dream role for me.

    Fuckin awesome man! And I guess they’ll actually keep Master Roshi’s old pereverted personally and that’s good news. Although I’m not really digging Chatwin’s HUGE pants in the 3rd pic tho :?
    Why did they have to make them so damn big anyway?

    @Sennin-dono: lol dude, his outfit is blue to portray his younger self in the anime. If I remember right, Goku used to wear blue before he was trained under Roshi.

    Looks pretty cool, though I’m kinda getting a “Forbidden Kingdom” vibe, especially from the pics of Goku . . . though, they’re both based off the same source material, and both feature a Caucasian kid with brown hair as the lead, soooo . . . yeah. XD Guess it’s not TOO surprising that they seem similar, then, haha. It’s also an Interesting idea on behalf of Fox to release Goku in ONE of his gis in the early stage of marketing . . . probably saving his signature look for later on.

    The girl on Roshi’s shirt is a nice touch, too. XD

    And . . . wtf. Goku’s shirt in the second pic is pretty nerdy, hehe.

    @Adam: Yeah, it somewhat reminded me of this FK poster: http://www.bbonlinepro.com/SP/images/comingsoon/The_Forbidden_Kingdom_3-big.jpg Haven’t seen this film, but I thought the costumes on the posters looked really nice, so it’s definitely not a bad thing, in that regard. . . .

    I didn’t really like the story of The One (interesting concept, but it just seemed like they used it as an excuse for the action - that’s just my opinion, though, so XD), BUT the action scenes were pretty awesome. :D Definitely not worried about DB’s fight sequences, hehe.

    i also think the pik of bulma and goku could be there first meeting, he is still in geeky clothes maybe just come out of school and she looks like shes waiting to jump him, perhaps for his dragonball???? like shes tracked him down on her radar tried to get it from hin and then they team up….or she could have stole it and hes chased her into that abandoned building thing to get it back

    Anyone else notice chatwins bulked up quite a bit since the invisible.His arms a bigger and has abigger chest.I think he is capable of bulking up more for the sequel he’s not as small as i thought.This movie l;ooks as good as live action could be.

And i think its a little to late for a protest, they are making the movie right now.     You know I was trying to imagine what the scene could be between Goku and Bulma in the second picture and I have a theory.

    Bulma traces a Dragon Ball to Goku’s house and she goes there to see that no one is home so she breaks in. Then Goku arrives to see that his house had been broken into and ransacked. Bulma hears Goku and hides (Badly lmao) Bulma either takes out a gun and tells Goku to stop where he is, Or Goku does something to Bulma.

    Ok everyone keeps complaining about how Goku is never smiling but if you remember this is suposed to be like and martial art action film right and when goku is in action mode fight the actual bad guys was he ever really smiling no not really he may have had a smerk but that about it. plus in most of the photo advertising the manga and anime goku almost always has a seriouse face.
