Interview with James Marsters
As promised, my source has translated the interview with James Marsters (Piccolo) from the August issue of Jump Square magazine. Give it a read!
What is the difference between the original and the live-action movie ?
JM: Definitely the story of this movie is different from the original. But it’s a necessary change because we need to condense the long story of the original for a movie. For example, some characters in the original don’t appear in the movie. And we try to give it a more gritty and graphic (realistic) feeling.
Though there are differences between the two, I think it is all right if the core part of Dragonball remains. I let my son watch the anime’s Dragonball, DBZ and DBGT since he was eight years old. At first, I thought it was too violent, but I realized this is the best show for training to become a true man. True men need not to flaunt themselves. Their calm, gentle and modest but when it comes to the crunch they don’t hesitate to kill the enemy, and I think that’s what Goku is.
Goku is a real man. I know my son received such a message and applied it to his own life. My son doesn’t use violence to others, but he isn’t afraid of his own anger. I think it’s an important thing.
How many hours does it take to apply the make-up?
JM: It takes about four hours. Luckily, my make-up artist is very chatty, we have a lot of chat during the make up.
Please tell us the most remarkable scene in the movie, especially action scenes!
JM: It is the last battle after all! I like playing the battle scene. When I worked for a TV show for seven years, every Friday I fought till sun rise, I felt I would never have such a good time again until now. In addition, I have never gotten terribly hurt (laugh).
Do you talk with other co-stars as well?
JM: When I have a problem, I have a talk with Justin [Chatwin]. At first, we worried about the costumes. We thought it should reflect the spirit of the original, we persisted this thought to the producers. We didn’t want to make our characters beautiful and safe. I talked with Justin, and he agreed with me. So did the director.
What do you care about in acting for this movie?
JM: That’s a good question. Speaking of Piccolo, one word comes into my mind, it’s “loneliness”. Piccolo is always floating in the air in the beautiful landscape, but he never even admires the landscape, he is only thinking or musing and staring at his feet. I think that is a characteristic of piccolo more than anything else. Maybe it must be a characteristic for revenge. He hates himself and blames the people who has trapped him. His desire to kill not only them but their family, furthermore to destroy the city and the planet they live and protect. To get revenge is everything to him. Everything.
How was shooting in Durango?
JM: The desert of Durango is very cold at night (laugh). I was luckily wearing armor, but Goku was freezing at the beginning of shooting. The local people are very kind and get along with us. Besides they love to party very much! If I didn’t have work, I would be willing to join them. They are drinking and singing songs until 4:30 a.m. But I need to sleep for the shooting the next day, after all so I changed the hotel to get away from the partying people.
Finally, please give us a message to our readers in Japan.
JM: Japan is beautiful. Thank you for giving Dragonball to us! It’s an important show to us all and I want you to watch it, especially the young people. I thank the show for a lot of good times with my son. I’ll do my best to meet the high expectations the fans have.
Dragonballfilm has also posted up a small interview with Texas Battle (Carey Fuller). Check it out here.

I know Marsters wont dissapoint…. and by looks of it, chatwin has payed attention to DB and even wanted to stayed faithful to the series just like marsters and wong… thats very good!!!!!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
thanks man
July 7th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Dude, awesome!
But what does he mean by, “We didn’t want to make our characters beautiful and safe.” I don’t get that…
July 7th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
I respect Chatwin and Marsters so much.
They are so committed to these characters and staying true to the series. Even if their performance lacks a little I will still respect them because they tried and gave everything they had.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Hell Yeah, I’ll be rooting for Piccolo on April 10th!
@Tommy:
By that he means the producers wanted to play it safe and make the characters more beautiful so it would appeal better to the general audience.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
@tommy … i think it means the producers wanted something beautiful and safe for the american audience, but thanks to marsters and whoever else… they decided to keep it more true to the story… obviously still not COMPLETELY true to the original story, but much better i assume… anyway, i always feel a little better about things after hearing marsters talk about the movie…
July 7th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
decent interview. nothing to get krunk about. thnx anyways tho
July 7th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
@Tommy
I think he just meant that Justin and himself had a conversation about the original costume ideas with the producers. I guess the original plan was to make the characters “beautiful.” So he and Justin talked the producers into making them more like the show. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.
And thanks for the interview, Adam. You rock!
July 7th, 2008 at 11:21 pm
@Sean: @ssj3000: @Tim: Oh. Got it!
haha.
July 7th, 2008 at 11:24 pm
James marsters is the MAN. One thing I noticed tho. He said that not only him but even justin wasnt pleased with there costumes. I’m jus kinda wndering how much really needed to be drastically changed.great interview none the less. He’s awesome
July 8th, 2008 at 12:01 am
Please tell us the most remarkable scene in the movie, especially action scenes!
It is the last battle after all! I like playing the battle scene.
Well thats nice to hear.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:11 am
thanks for this adam!!
james is awesome, everytime i read or hear him talk about this movie, he gives me a lot of confidence that it will be great
its good to know that chatwin got so much into the role as well, he might be able to pull a great goku
July 8th, 2008 at 12:22 am
yeah james is a BEAST lol.
I love hearing him talk and interview about the movie. gets me pumped.
also im glad to see chatwin is really into his role also. makes me even more excited about the movie
July 8th, 2008 at 12:22 am
Ok it’s settled. There’s absolutely no way this will completely suck, not with that kind of true understanding of the franchise behind it. that’s the kind of thing you wouldn’t here from anyone working on street fighter or DOA. Yep, finally someone understands dragonball’s turns boys into men…. wonderful…
July 8th, 2008 at 12:30 am
Agreed Breasts. Both main characters in James and Justin are taking their roles seriously. That can only spell kick ass’ness. if that’s even a word lol
July 8th, 2008 at 12:32 am
James Marsters is just awesome.
Any actor could just hop aboard such a rushed film as DB and not give a crap as to how they perform Piccolo (he’s evil, grawr, that’s it, and the check’s in the mail), but it seems like Marsters really thought about his character, really tried to delve into his personality and “get” him. Gotta love that, hehe.
And like others have said, it’s nice to hear a little bit more about Chatwin’s commitment to his role, as well. I’m sure we’ll be hearing a ton of stuff from him in the future, but right now, promotion has barely begun, and one of the first full-fledged interviews isn’t with the star, Goku, so it seems odd. Without much to grasp onto, people tend to see the lack of promotion on Chatwin’s part (even though the movie’s promotion hasn’t even really begun yet - I mean, there’s not even a website or an officially released poster from Fox) as a sign that he doesn’t care or something. I think it’s quite the opposite, so I can’t wait to see something from him soon.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:39 am
I have some faith in this movie after hearing this. I already knew James Marsters was going to a great piccolo, but now I’m sure Justin’s going to be a good Goku. Of course not going be 100% like the anime, but I just hope they keep key elements that are important to DB, like Kami (seeing that he’s the creator of the dragonballs).
July 8th, 2008 at 12:58 am
PARTY ALL NIGHT LONG!!!
July 8th, 2008 at 1:38 am
I can’t wait till I start seeing Chatwin on TV, on that MTV show in New York getting interviewed about Dragonball, and then the talk show hosts says “Alright then, lets see our man Justin Chatwin in action!” And they roll a few unreleased fight clips from the movie.
Just a hope of mine!
July 8th, 2008 at 1:52 am
[...] Dbthemovie ya le pasaron la entrevista traducida del Japones a ingles, asi que ahora aqui se las tradusco al [...]
July 8th, 2008 at 4:39 am
tommy you make a good point i just cant wait till its december/january but only time will tell how this movie well look good or bad

July 8th, 2008 at 5:21 am
Everybody can deduce it’s gonna rock.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:43 am
I gotta admit, this does make me feel a bit better.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:51 am
James is awesome.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:57 am
Heh, i love how no one is bashing the movie now. See, i knew it would work out XD It doesn’t matter about the minor changes or anything, it’s how they play the characters that really matters!! And it’s sooo obvious that at least the main two characters are really trying their bloody hardest to be that character! Go Chatwin
go Marsters

I’m so frikin’ excited!!!
July 8th, 2008 at 7:18 am
Even more news to get my hopes up. I have so much faith in Chatwin, Marsters, and this movie. Keep up the good work Adam!
July 8th, 2008 at 7:21 am
I just wish we had the trailer. That’d either completely confirm or squash our fears. There’s a billion different ways this movie could go wong. tee hee.
July 8th, 2008 at 7:56 am
Well at least from Masters interview we can expect dragonball not to be as cheeeezzzyyy as speed racer. If they are making it realistic it might be a good thing if they keep burst fighting and etc…
July 8th, 2008 at 8:10 am
“Gritty and graphic (realistic)”

July 8th, 2008 at 8:14 am
July 8th, 2008 at 8:23 am
thanks for Interview
this made my day it’s making me super excited for this movie again. thanks Adam
July 8th, 2008 at 8:29 am
cheeeeezyyy? Speed Racer is the best live action anime adaptation to date.
I wish people gave it a chance. Found this online: Ii23TvBaLB0
Dragonball’s obviously a different ball game than speed but don’t knock what the wackowskis achieved because it’s accurate to the insanity anime’s known for.
July 8th, 2008 at 8:30 am
oops, here’s the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ii23TvBaLB0
July 8th, 2008 at 8:35 am
James is so committed i love that and so CHatwin
July 8th, 2008 at 8:50 am
marsters is awesome… i love how he has the idea of piccolo’s character down perfectly. I’m pumped!
July 8th, 2008 at 9:03 am
Thanks for the interview scoop, Adam.
As always, James gives good interview. Thoughtful, detailed responses to the questions being asked ~ not just some boilerplate propaganda off the press releases.
I especially like his thoughts regarding his son and how they’ve shared the fun of Dragonball while James keeps in mind it’s teaching potential. What a guy!
July 8th, 2008 at 9:16 am
I have so much faith in this movie right now!
Every pic or interview increase my hope in DragonBall
July 8th, 2008 at 9:30 am
If someone gets pregnant within this week, ur baby might pop out the day DB comes out jajajaja…..
@Karen: DB wont dissapoint, that im sure off, but what will b hard is to get the masses of people who dont know squat about DB or those who thing anime/manga is stupid to come watch it…. if u know what i mean.
July 8th, 2008 at 10:05 am
And what if Marsters´s son is a psycho-killer and Marsters doesn´t know??? hahahahahaha. I´m joking. Really I think EVERYONE got a message from DB and I think everyone apply that message in their life in many ways. Part of me wasn´t convinced after seeing the pictures of Roshi with hair and with out his glasses (just for an example) but then I realized they are trying to make a realistic vision of Dragon Ball. I only hope for REALLY good fights for this movie
July 8th, 2008 at 10:06 am
I am sure this movie won´t suck 100%…but we are not REALLY sure if this movie will rock…
July 8th, 2008 at 10:11 am
@victor: jajaja
it seems they were trying to make a movie that appeals to everyone, not just the fans, so it shouldn´t be that hard. all they need is good trailers and good critics
most people i know, including me, didn´t go to see speed racer because the trailers showed me how crappy the movie looks like. in the trailers, it looks more like a video game than a movie
luckily dragonball seems to be going a very different direction than speed racer
July 8th, 2008 at 10:23 am
more graphic than the cartoon, that sounds like a pg-13 rating to me, yeah!
July 8th, 2008 at 10:32 am
Here’s what Marsters was talking about when he mentioned 7 years of fighting:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T_cRsJUrJ0&feature=related
I think it’s safe to say he’ll do well there. And Wow, I was never much of a fan of buffy, what the hell was I doing back then, probably drooling over Jessica Alba in dark angel… ah, tv used to be more than a bunch of csi derivatives wasn’t it…
July 8th, 2008 at 10:32 am
JAMES MARSTERS ROCKSSSS!!!!
James Marsters gets me soooo freakin’ excited about Dragonball, because he talks from a fans perspective. Plus he always delivers a little bit of news when he speaks. He knows what the fans want to hear. You Rock James
July 8th, 2008 at 10:33 am
Wait a tic….
Wait a freakin’ minute!!!!
Did James just say what I think he just said????
“Piccolo is always floating in the air in the beautiful landscape”
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! Does this mean there going to fly???? Oh wow!! I really hope so
July 8th, 2008 at 10:34 am
If there is no krillen…..
HOW WILL GOKU GO SSJ?????????
July 8th, 2008 at 10:54 am
Well, he may or may not have prevented from Lord Piccolo being ‘beautiful and safe’ but obiously that wasn’t the case for Chatwin as Goku. Gotta love Marsters though, he just gives everything away, I love it, lol!
July 8th, 2008 at 11:17 am
Corey they confirmed flying a long time ago, and I think he is talking about Piccolo meditating in the Original DBZ.
July 8th, 2008 at 11:56 am
James Marsters, he’s soooo dreamy! I love that he is playing the part of Lord Piccolo. I’ll always love him as SPIKE from BtVS, but he did a bang up job as the voice of Lex Luthor in Superman: Doomsday. But IMHO I feel his best stuff was as the narrator for the DRESDEN FILES audio books by buzzy multi media. Check it out at http://www.buzzymultimedia.com/storm-front-audiobook-by-jim-butcher.html
July 8th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Warner bro’s confirm trailers with The Dark Knight. Dragonball is not on the list.
Source: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=46678
July 8th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
@DBZM28: Are you serious Dbzm28???? There is going to be flying? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Thank you Jesus
This is going to be the best movie ever!! Thanks for telling me that….
July 8th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
@A-CITY: they can VERY EASILY find another way to make goku turn ssj without having krillin,,,
personally i think that would only be the only reason why krillin could be needed in the movies, but he´s not even needed for that. i like krillin in the anime, but the movies last 2 hours, id rather not have krillin, tenshinhan, etc, and have more screen time to develop the characters of goku, picolo, vegeta, gohan, freeza, bulma
July 8th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
@nanjirou: Yeah and it seems Marsters made that very clear. Although he gave no specific details to who wasn’t going to be in the film, but don’t be stupid people, Krillin isn’t in it. So that question doesn’t need to be asked anymore
@http://www.myspace.com/coreywilson10: That’s old news man lol, it’s been confirmed that there’s power-ups like in the show, ki blasts, flying, and Goku’s special technique.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
@nanjirou: yeah i agree somewhat but it would be cool if the characters mentioned would at least have a cameo of some sort during the battles
July 8th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
@Tommy: I’m not surprised.
July 8th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
that got me pumped!!!!l-visualizing in my head piccolo wanting revenge floating high above the beautiful lanscape yet looking so alone in the world and james conveying that feeling…-he will save this if noone else.-
hey adam lets get some voice clips of him as piccolo lets a pic someday.
-ive been real strict on this but james made me excited now.
July 8th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
@J: Yeah, I was really hoping for it. I just posted that so everyone isn’t heartbroken when they see the movie, and there is no trailer, lol. Adam idk if you want to make a post about that, but it’s not that big of a deal. Just letting people know.
July 8th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
hey adam this is random and not that it matters but i noticed your site ussually gets a bit more news comments from people than jps
but your forums dead and his is insanely active, i just thought it was weird. its not a competition but maybe if you did somthing like jp does and said discuss on the forums after a news blog the forums would be more active
just a suggestion
July 8th, 2008 at 2:46 pm
@heason: You’re absolutely right, but I think JP is spamming when he does that. If you want it though, I’ll do it.
And for the record, we are the most popular Dragonball blog on the Internet (not bragging, well I guess I am). JP just has more diehard fans. People who aren’t necessarily fans visit this site, but we also have diehard fans as well.
And “insanely active” is a bit of an overstatement. Saiyan Island usually has 100 members online at a time, but very little live-action discussion. I’m still a mod there, though.
July 8th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
@nanjirou:
Cool. That makes total sense. good shit my nig. \
I wonder he’ll go SSJ now
July 8th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
its makes me concerned that the producers needed the acters to tell them how to get the outifts rite
July 8th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
@Adam:
I heard you say before that there is no competition between you and JP…but comon, who are you kidding?
July 8th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
I truely think this will be the highest grossing film worldwide! It was number one in the US, Mexico, UK, and Japan! Its gonna be awesome! I cant wait to see the Kamehameha! And the eternal dragon! Imtaking everyone i know to watch and support it
July 8th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
@Jnas: Both sites offer different things. I don’t mind it.
July 8th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Adam do you agree with me or no? give me some feedback!
July 8th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
@josh stroud: I don’t know about that.
July 8th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
@A-CITY: i don´t think he will, he´ll barely know he is a saiyan in this one. i hope they save the ssj for the 3rd, as it should be done. maybe vegeta can mention the legend of the ssj in the second, that would be cool too
@josh stroud: i truly hope you are right but thats a nearly impossible dream,,, anyway, if something can pull it off, it should be dragonball
July 8th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
i suppose insanely inactive was an over staetment i just found it odd how your right this site seems more popular yet had less forum activity do whatever you want man, its your site
the forums are less important than the amount of people that see the blogs anyway, the news is the most important
July 8th, 2008 at 4:51 pm
Wonder if Piccolo will have a joker like craze and promotion like the joker for TDK after all he is a villain 100x more powerful then joker. Will masters Have a real powerful presence? Hopefully his dialog will be well written, to pull off a whole new level of villain to the cinema.
*hate to bring tdk into this just curious will
have major hype or no*
July 8th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
Awesome keeps getting better and better, as for krillin(I heard some complaints) isn’t it possible they will add him in the sequel along with tien.
July 8th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Yay! Mr. Marsters! W00t! I know he’s going to be the best out of the whole movie! *mostly likely saying this because she’s a Piccolo Fan.*
July 8th, 2008 at 6:45 pm
@josh stroud: Ain’t gonna happen. Too many people think that either DB is lame, or many who do love it hate the movie.
July 8th, 2008 at 6:51 pm

July 8th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Click my blue name from my comment before
July 8th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
@ROBERT G: Yes! Thats the #1 question I want to know too.
Will there be Oozaru????
July 8th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
i might be wrong, but i think i heard it from somewhere that there might be the oozaru in the movie…. im not 100% sure on that.
July 8th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
i don´t think there will be,,, actually i wouldnt mind if they left oozaru out of the movies, i know its a big change… but if they include oozaru, chances are they are going to screw it up, i would think it would be very expensive to do it right, just a guess
July 8th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
@chrisH:
hes got no tail though, maybe in a flashback
July 8th, 2008 at 11:02 pm
I don’t care if it’s a flashback or if it’s only for 30 seconds….
The better show Oozaru!! Oozaru is a big part of the Dragoball world. It can be done
July 9th, 2008 at 5:10 am
What the heck is Oozaru?
July 9th, 2008 at 8:19 am
Oozaru is the giant monkey the saiyans turn into dudeski.
July 9th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
@http://www.myspace.com/coreywilson10: its not a big part in the piccolo saga, actually it has no part at all, so its very unlikely that they will show it. if they do, i hope its only in the second movie, where it´s actually important
mainly i don´t want it in the first one because im not sure how non fans would take it, if its in the second one, by then the entire world will be fans of dragonball
July 9th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
tommy blow it out your ass!!!!-future trunks how dare you be on this site or take that screen name!!!!!!!!!!!-savonny#8 is true i saw it!!!-so nobody else knows why we dont ge the lost movie here or why we dont get the awesome db online game………..that sucks
July 9th, 2008 at 4:22 pm

July 9th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
@Robert G

July 10th, 2008 at 12:55 am
@Fo Shizz

July 10th, 2008 at 6:02 am
Smithsfeild: well Goku didn’t have a tail as an adult

July 11th, 2008 at 12:51 am

July 11th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
@TruFan: Howcome you never talk about Dragonball???? All you talk about is F this and F that!! Kaypain is cool why you dissing him? I don’t think it’s a good ideal to make fun of Kaypain. Kaypain is pretty strong trufan!! I heard his power level is 9000.
July 12th, 2008 at 11:32 am
those who oppose the movie, f*ck you all!! this is a great effort. like it or not, it still going to be awesome. the ones who live in their mom’s house under the basement who think of oozaru and krillin and whatever nonsense you want to be in the movie, SHUT UP losers! whatever the film will be, its going to be great.

if you’re a real fan, appreciate the effort of the movie makers because the people behind these work had a lot of thinking of what to put in the movie. so back off! dbz is a a really hard word to work into and a lot of background is hard to insert in script. all in all, we’ll just see. those who oppose, make your own movie!!

Look at first i actually agreed that this movie would most likely suck. After a while though I changed my mind cause they are basing this movie on our world, in real life. You can’t expect everything thats in an anime carttom to make it into the real world, it just wouldnt look right and we couldnt relate to the characters as well. Piccolo though should look just from the anime though with the cape, hat and everything. I feel better about this movie.

i’ve seen picture and all but i would be terrible if the special effects sucked and all the dragonball, dragonballz, and dragonball gt fans were disappointed!
July 24th, 2008 at 6:34 pm
And why have justin Chatwin play goku! I mean look at him, he has hardly any muscle to show! He has short hair, put a wig on him! And for all that don’t like i say, “i’m a dragonball, dragonballz, and dragonball gt fan, not a fan to a movie with a nonmuscle goku!

I’m sorry but this movie is going to suck, The way you guys are portraying the characters is not even close! You guys are gonna ruin the best Anime series ever of all time with this movie…
July 28th, 2008 at 1:25 pm
@josh: DUDE that is totally true, plus bulma’s hair is Blue! and goku’s is black! & personally i think you guys should of casted Wee man as krillin. And for god sake get the costumes right! spend some time in google images or something!
July 28th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Man the world tournament is complete BS looks nothing like the real deal and What the hell whats up with goku wearing regular clothes? He just looks like your average joe with crazy, and I saw all the new costumes for goku they all suck. Seriously you guys need to revert to the original the one justin was wearing in the 1st poster that came out were hes looking up and his hair is normal. Thats the one he should be wearing the entire film!
July 28th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Seriously i wish i could become a director just to repair all the damage you guys have done with this film…
July 28th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
WHAT WERE YOU GUYS SMOKING WHEN YOU MADE THIS FILM!!!!!
IT DOES NOT EVEN DISERVE THE TITTLE OF DRAGONBALL!!!!!!!!!!
ITS ALMOST AS BAD AS THE LAST DRAGONBALL MOVIE THAT COME OUT!!
July 28th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
I’m agreeing with SSJ5 goku on all this cause when i saw pictures they did not look that great! When that film comes out people are going to walk in thinking its good but when they walk out most of them will probly be pissed!

Awesome. I have been waiting for Db as live action for, well, years. Like some I had my negative thoughts but resolved to go into theaters in 09 with an open mind. Aside from Darkstalkers and Akira, Dragonball was the first real anime I had ever seen. I am glad to see that people are far more open minded about it now that Marsters has had his word on it. He seems really enthusiastic and loyal to the core of DB, and from what he says, so does Chatwin.
I heard some bashing in other forums in the form of the complaint that Goku was not being portrayed by a Japanese actor. Well firstly, the original legend Dragonball was based on was Chinese. The Legend of the Monkey King. And then Toriyama goes to include some western influence in his own manga. Besides, Goku isn’t even human, he’s a Saiyan/saiya-jin. I think it can be done for that matter, as long as, if they make further movies that include other saiyans, they follow their own established look.
I also had worries on Marsters. Mind you, I am a big Buffy and Angel fan, and Spike is actually my favorite character. He can pull off the character most definitely and his martial arts isn’t too shabby……but there is a little problem. And I emphasize little. James Marsters isn’t that tall or beefed. But then I took into mind that in this installment it is the old “demon” piccolo we will be seeing, so it seems they can make it work there.
Of course, in making any movie adaptation you have to cut and rearrange the story a little as he mentioned had to be done. You just can completely condense volumes and volumes of manga into a 2-3 hour long movie and remain completely loyal.
What matters is remaining true to the core and feelings of the series, which Marsters and Chatwin seem to grasp. So I am optimistic.
Now, if they do further movies, perhaps leading up to the defeat of Frieza…….I would love to see Jet Li as Vegeta. Once again that would have one Saiyan looking western and one Asian, but it would almost be worth it. Just check out the ending scene in “The One” where Ulaw is walking up the steps of that pyramid like structure, listen to the rough town of his voice, the look on his face, and you’ll see what I mean.

I still dont freakin get why Kuririn isnt there!!!!!!!!….he appears in the second arc of dragon ball, the best friend of goku, and pays an important role in Goku’s transformation as a Super Sayajin….he also played an important role in fighting vegeta, remember when he shot gokus spirit bomb?…..WHY ISNT HE THERE!!!!!!!!!!…..this is balls
I dare you to flame my ass for posting this, I DARE YOU…you’re not makin the movie longer by putting an important character in the series..
