Dragonball Movie Podcast Episode 7
We’re back after nearly a month, and we’ve got plenty to discuss. Joining me in this jam-packed edition of the podcast is GMAN, a movie reviewer, an avid reader of the site, and a production assistant for various movie projects. The episode starts off a little slow, but it picks up later on and I think it’s a very informative and entertaining listen!
In this episode we discuss all the news we’ve gotten over the last month, including the new scans, the interviews, the set reports, and all the drama that comes with them. We also compare what we’ve seen to other films, and possibly go a little off-topic as well. Definitely give it a listen.

It wasn’t funny, but I like how Adam explained everything and backed it up. This is the first time I heard him do that!! I like when he said there was allot of controversy in China about the way Chow yun fat looked in Pirates of the Caribbean 3. That’s probably why his head is not bald guys and gals!! Dragonball has to appeal to a world wide audience and there will be allot of protest in China if people see the same thing happen again. I never thought about that!! Thanks Adam

Its funny that GMAN mentioned people thinking that JC would not take this role seriously i personally have not heard that complaint before… the one i hear everywhere i go to chat about this movie is that he’s not Asian therefore he will not be a good Goku only Asian actors can play a good Goku… I personally think thats a load of crap! Simply because he’s an Alien that just happens to look human, and they never say what race he favors only that he’s pod landed in an Asian area… But anywho i would love to hear your comments on that if you haven’t already spoken of it in previous pod casts… LOVE THE SITE, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, AND THANK YOU!!!

Oh yeah and the exclusion of krillin is the biggest mistake cause his death DBZ is what triggers Goku to go SS *so there screwing themselves for a Freza film* just my opinion … I agree with GMAN Just give us a bald guy thats his best friend damn it!!!! ^_^

I just hope Bulma has some kind of interest in Goku. come on he’s Goku,he’s handsome,strong and a kind hearted person,all girls want that especially a ho like Bulma. it would be totally unrealistic if she has no “filling”(lust) for Goku at all. at least have Mai change into Bulma and seduce Goku, like Wolverine and Mystique in X-men 2……… sweeeeeeeet.I’m not a perv. just being realistic.

They don’t come as often as “others” unfortunately, but are much more informative and worth the wait.
About Krillin, yeh i believe they could of done it too, appearance of the originals obviously isn’t that much of an issue considering the changes already made.
Never the less, i’m really looking forward to seeing this “Gritty, realisitic” adaption.

This is going to be way off topic, but I’ve gone everywhere for help but I just can’t get it, so I’m going to try here, I’m trying to put my first video on youtube but it always says the file is to small, I’m not a computer wiz so I don’t know what it means, I’ve tryed incressing the length and added more frames but that hasn’t help, can someone help me I’ve been trying for 2 days and it is pissing me off

Awesome podcast! It was very informative and totally worth the 40 minutes. Also, about the Piccolo making evil clones of other people thing, I hope it’s not real but I think they can pull it off. Piccolo can already make copies of himself. Like a few other things about this film it will take some getting used to, but nothing to get mad about, well for me anyway. Thanks.

I hope the DNA thing is fake as well… We know he will make monsters but i dont want them to be made with his DNA. And if they were, wouldnt they look like him and not something completly different?
Also about that trailer preview thing, It looks fake to me but the music sounds right. And if its real why couldnt he get a different part from the trailer? and a longer part?

Wow, you guys are right! I took another look at Chatwin and he really has been working out. The only problem I have is that he worked out one arm more than the other, here’s a closer look at what I’m talking about.

But in all seriousness, in the original I think they did do some touching up on his arms based on the many candid photos I saw of him before the posters arrived…not that he’s much bigger anyway.

I just came up with a theory, if that DNA thing is ture, and that scene in which Bulma is hideing against the wall and that Goku that is walking in is the evil Goku, here’s my theory the evil Goku attacks Bulma (in a way that would send chills down you spine) ends up killing her and at the end of the movie they use the dragonballs to bring her back, just a theory whether it is good or bad, you tell me.

i still think we might see roshis traditional look in sequels and the look he has now is just to signify him still being a little younger and somewhat in his prime. showing him age a little from movie to movie is good to show the passage of time and it gives us something new to see, just as if they were to give bulma and yamcha different hairstyles later, maybe ones that well recognize. this goes for krillin as well, he would be a nice major character to introduce in a sequel to help pump up that movie and give us something to be excited about. in sequels you introduce new characters, good guys and bad guys, they cant just bring in guys like vegeta and nappa and not counter that with some new good guys like maybe krillin and tien… thats what im hoping for anyway and if this first movie is successful enough then a slightly bigger budget would give us the characters and more action.

also has anyone just in their head, taken the ed french piccolo suit photo and imagined anime piccolo’s face in it. it works really well. Um here’s a question, it’s been awhile since I watched DB, .. did piccolo’s outfit have any asian symbols on it? and why was he just wearing cloth.. To me this outfit works great as maybe the namekians have their own special alloy/ raw material that they make their clothing and maybe armor out of.. and in the namekian saga if that is in a movie, the heros wear that instead of saiyan style armor

@ RJ when he’s old piccolo wears an outfit with demon lord symbol on it but no turban like the piccolo at the end of db or through out dbz… the namekian armor idea is cool for the nameks but the other guys have got to wear the saiyan armor… thats if they get to the Frieza saga

@RJ: Yeah it did. King Piccolo’s had what I think is kanji script for “Demon” or something like that on his gi. Also, right after Piccolo Jr. was born, he wore the same emblem if I remember correctly.
I really think they photoshopped Chatwin’s arms if everyone’s saying they look significantly larger. I mean there are tons of photos of Chatwin during the beginning and end of filming of him being smaller than the poster showed and as we all know, Hollywood likes to photoshop the crap out of their movie posters so…

the movie kicked some ancient batman ass. it was really intense! im suprised at how intense it was! joker was awesome as predicted. and theres a million suprises and twists. i was literally sittin on the edge ey. it was a really good movie. i think it comes out on the 18th in US…

people need to get a little informed about dragon ball before watching the movie specially since the movie is about dragon ball and not dragon ball z other i also think is dumb they didn’t put krillin in here since it’s goku childhood friend but they have to make him appear on the next film specially if it will be a dbz movie krillin becomes a key in most dbz sagas even though he is never strong enough to fight and i think that for a dbz movie ten and chaos are important too since dbz is about the Z warriors and the are part of them also people try not to get your hopes too high and stop crying about the fact that goku wears clothes he did wear normal clothes in the series not to sure about the manga(comic) but i think what hollywood will do is try to bring the story very close to reality thats why they put goku in normal clothes at least thats what i think anyway i’m watching the movie defenitly and the sequels as well if the do them

Fox is really pissing me off… Release the damn teaser already!!!! Gees the Terminator teaser is already out and that movie comes out next summer!!! What the hell is fox doing?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! they may not show the kameha in the teaser but i think they should have the dialog of Justin chanting it…. i personally would chop up the chants with flashes of fight scenes in between or intros to the characters except for piccolo… I think he should remain a mystery… maybe just show his eyes through shadow with a short dialog… ok i’m done ranting for the day

Them leaving Krillin out is the worst thing possible for this film. Fox needs to think of the series and the fact that the death of Krillin makes Goku go SS.
Also I agree with what you guys said about the whole romance between Goku and Chi-Chi…I hate the teenage drama but if they are trying to modernize it, I guess it may work. Everyone needs to remember that movies like X-Men didn’t stay 100% to the comic but it was still awesome.
