Dragonball-live managed to leak the teaser trailer shown at Brand Licensing Europe! Unfortunately, the audio from the trailer cannot be heard and it was recorded with a video camera, but it’ll do until it’s officially released later this month.

it looks like the bullies are more involved in the movie than we thoguht.
from the looks of it they’re involved in a day scene and night scene, daytime scene it looks like they’re trying to kill goku with swords and he just jumps through their slices and the 2nd time it shows goku flipping off the top of a yellow car

It looks better than I expected! I can’t wait to see the Hi-Def version with sound. I think this is just a teaser though, so don’t expect a full trailer yet. One minor problem is that it doesn’t really look like Dragonball all that much.

O Mother of donkeys, It doesn’t look that great at all, I’m afraid to watch this movie incase they fuck it up beyond repair, but then again that’s what happened to batman and good ol Chris brought that back to life, maybe WB will do it again and take something ruined and make it good, 20TH Fox’s movies seem more childishly while WB have gone the more dark side makes movies well better..

If you hear closely when Chatwin thrusts his palm towards Piccolo before you see Piccolo spinning in the air, you can hear a faint HA! in the background. Lets hope he just did a normal Ki Blast and not a Kamehameha.

I think goku is standing on his hands on the 53rd second mark, nice!!
Piccolo is definitely green in his last shot while he is rotating in the air
Goku may be going for the Kameameha or in even a spirit bomb in the very last shot of the trailer
something about this reminds me of the first time I saw terminator 2 on video. Just the look of it all brings back some good memories. If it’s even half as good… Anyway…

ok for those worried about the ki blast just look at how good Heroes blast are and they are a t.v. show. I’m sure it will look awesome… And i did se the glimps of piccolo being green when he doged the blast YAY green piccolo!!!!

I have full faith in this movie now. From what I gathered is that this movie will have the “This is the world, accept it” approach. It looked like real life, but also different at the same time, just like the show. I was scared how Wong would pull it off, and I am now seriously happy. Bring on the audio trailer, and adding to that, the full trailer out in spring!

In dragonball, it had speed fighting (after image attacks a lot) but it didn’t really have flying and punches that would cause the cliffs to fall apart.
It’s such a stereotypical trailer. Though I can’t say I was expecting anything better.

I have been reading comments and new for about a month now and I have never commented until now.
If the teaser trailer above is accurate then I see nothing that indicates that this movie will be good or anything special other than another action flick. I am not a huge DB fan I ony watched the GT and the Buu saga on DBZ. So if this movie is trying to bring in a new audience then the trailer hasn’t convinced me. Just like Speed Racer, everyone was saying how good it looked and in tanked. It was aweful. I think most of you on here so wanted a DB movie that you will be happy with ANYTHING they throw up on the screen with a DB label.
Take a step back and look at things realistically. Stop marking out on nonsense and making excuses when you KNOW that there have been serious missteps in this movie. Piccolo, Roshi, Bulma and Goku Kissing???, missing Krillin, changes to important nuances to the plot. I loved Goku because he was light hearted, funny, and goofy. I don’t see or hear anything about Goku being that way. Roshi can be a perv, maybe not so much, but after watching Superbad, gossip girl etc you can’t convince me that 12-17yr olds would be offended by a perv old man.
Making an adaptation should not be motivated by how many lunch boxes, t-shirts, and cups you sell. It should be realistically faithful to the original source, modern, appeal to most(not all) of the masses, and entertain. DB has never been “family” oriented, it was violent, bloody. Watch the Japanese version uncut and you will see how cartoon networks edited to heck.
I will see this movie because I am curious, but I can tell you that everyone I know is very skeptical and some are disgusted. IMO it looks like a cheesy film that tries to take itself serious and full of Americanized gimicky kung fu cliche’s like the horrid journey to the west.

Also please note before i got to see this (at school) I was freaking out. I wanted to see this so bad, I started to have a breakdown and started laughing maniacly while i was hugging and rocking my art stool back and forth.
This could be the start of something amazing … the potential for the dragonball world in live-action format is damn near infinite. It certainly is a teaser…
Better than the first pics, but the anime is another thing. Definitely. They turned the anime in a familymovie and the result is too boring and “seen before” compared to the masterpiece of originality that is the anime series. Yes, it could be a box office superstar, but it’s not Dragonball. The soul is lost. This movie would be directed in a revolutionary way like Sin City. The soul is lost.

O.K. Mikey, the fighting looks like something I’ve seen over and over again in movies that are Matrix clones. Piccolo! I love James, OMG that is the highlight of this whole movie, but Piccolo looks nothing like Piccolo. This has been said before over and over again. Have you seen Journey to the West? It has the same vibe as that movie, but I can’t totally compare those two unless I actually see DB.
I just don’t understand WHY do we have to support this movie if in our opinion it looks like crap from what we have seen. Why do people get angry that we pan the movie. dk318, there is no way someone can say that it will fail for certain. Not unless they have mystical powers! But the same goes for the people that say it will be a hit and I have read people saying that. There is no way to prove it untill the movie rolls out.
I secretly pray that it fails. I do not want anime adaptations to come to the U.S. because I am so deathly afraid of hollywood. They change, white wash, and douchify great material. I say no to Akira, Naruto, Ghost in the Shell, Death note. I’m ify on Cowboy Bepop, it can be done right with little effort, but still I’m skeptical.

The real issue with this teaser trailer is that it shows really nothing. It was created way before the CGI was ready, that’s the problem here. We can’t see any of the CGI and various special effects in order to judge it. We barely see a bunch of frames from some action sequences and that’s it.
Until the first real trailer with the final or almost final CGI appears there is nothing to watch here. It really seems that CGI is behind schedule otherwise they would have shown something in this teaser trailer.

I was a dragon ball jeek when I was a kid, and I feel like you guys have seen another manga / anime. I can’t believe people is so excited with this bunch of stupid shots that are so far from the original. Goku kissing Chichi? I am not worried about it appearing in the movie, but putting it in the trailer is like: you liked The Fast and the Furious? so come and watch the dragonball movie.

For some reason, I knew they’d use the ‘realism’ excuse to not have to work on the special effects. All their hands do when they launch a ki blast is turn blue, then there’s an explosion. Wow! For a guy who hasn’t seen basically nothing from Dragonball (watching GT and the Buu saga cuts out a lot, these movies will most likely never even get close to the cell saga, let alone buu…), you seem to know a lot about DB. I mean…seeing Goku kissing bothers you, even though he had two kids when you reportedly saw it the first time? And what nuances do you believe are missing in the plot, if you only saw a saga that comes really late in the whole DB history?
Don’t get me wrong, i don’t suspect you nor anything like that, and i’m not bashing you at all, but if you only saw the saga at that period, then you should know that DBZ action has nothing to do with DB in that term. I don’t even recall seeing blood before the tenshin-han saga and picollo saga in DB. It even had some elements that were representative of real martial arts (like a vampire fighting thai boxing). Goku was strong at the beginning, and started becoming a bit supernaturally strong with Roshi (i remember Roshi timing a sprint competition between him and Krillin, goku did about 8 secs, while roshi had 5 secs…in the buu saga he could even run a planet in less than a sec.)
. Correct me if i’m wrong now, but for what i humbly remember, Goku even only started flying in DBZ, after his dead training, when he tried to confront the sayans for the first time. What i’m trying to say is that at this point of the saga it’s natural that the martial fighting and powers won’t be as spectacular as one who only saw the buu saga would expect.
As for being accurate…i said before and i say it again…the drawings in DB are not meant to be real…do you believe a guy looking exactly like Goku, with hair that looked like a caravel sail, would actually get a girl like chi-chi (everyone drooled when they saw her at the tournament)…or any girl at all? lol…Goku’s character, looks, and everything else actually workd in the anime, because…it’s an anime, a cartoon, it’s not meant to look real, and needs adjustments to come to real life, otherwise it would look dumb and i trust non-fans like you or the ones who really saw nothing of DB would end up saying it was crap and there was too much lack of realism (lol…they said that about LOTR and Indiana Jones 4, can you believe it? ). I said it before and i’ll say it again; none of us have the same idea of how a DB action movie should be like, because we all created a different thought of how the DB universe should be. That’s the beauty of a cartoon, it gives us space to imagine. Therefore, Wong’s idea of a DB movie has as much credit as any of our ideas. And if you accept it, you might just end up with a good time at the cinema…
As for hating haters, well…sorry, but most of them actually don’t deserve respect at all. If a person wants to be respected that he/she should earn that respect; and one of many other things that helps us earn oither people’s respect is to respect others. When i see comments like “F”#$ JAMES WONG, FOX AND THE ACTORS, THEY WILL BE THE DEATH OF DB, THEY’RE ALL FAGS”, or “IF YOU LIKE THIS MOVIE THEN YOU’RE RETARDED”, or “IF YOU SUPPORT THIS MOVIE THEN YOU WORK FOR FOX, AND KISS THEIR ASSES”…well, sorry, i don’t respect any of these guys, because they don’t respect me nor this space. If they want to comment on something, then comment it, sure they are allowed to not like the movie, but they have to accept other people have a different oppinion of their’s, and have to respect their arguments as well. Of course not all haters are like that, but most of them are, a lot of them only seem to care for some attention and to look more intelectual in this, like if you would be someone special just because you saw everything in DB (an anime is not meant to be a life guide, you know? ). Plus, they hate even more when someone contradicts them.
As for the kissing between Bulma…you shouldn’t believe everything you read. There are many fake news, made by the same guys who only crave for attention…i don’t even believe the Ben Ramsey’s script. For me, it was made by someone with a lot of time and paranoia who wanted someone to read their version of DB or to cause panic to the fans. This happened in many movies, like LOTR, when they said Gimli would have a passion scene with Galadriel, for instance (kissing and all…lol…). Just relax, and keep watching the news…

My thoughts on this movie have changed after seeing this. I really thought that it would not look good at all but from these few clips my hope in the movie has been restored. I hope the trailer shown in theaters will be different so that we can get a better idea of what the movie will look like.

It’s just that i remotely remember during the picollo Jr fight and during the tournament he allways leaped really high and stood still in the air (hidign in a cloud and all)…it was flying, sure, but not the DBZ flying, like he wouldn’t really master it like picollo did (wich is why i believe he still used the cloud in thje beginning of DBZ)…and during the Sayan saga, when goku returns to Earth, he starts running the path, but later he leaps and finds himself flying and actually gets surprised with that. That’s why i considered his first flying in that part, and believed his former actions were representative of big shaolin jumps, like some old martial arts series.
At least u all don’t have high hopes. This looks so crappy, direct to dvd style ;-;

Brotha, but realize, IT´S IMPOSIBLE to make a 100% copy of DB series on a movie. But the adaptation must be good and at least with fidelity to the anime/manga.
Starting with a Goku made on a wrong and very-used way (highschool nerd like spiderman for example) when he has a special origin. He´s not Peter Parker, Grandpa Gohan is not Uncle Ben.
And Piccolo was green always. Imagine a Green Goblin but not green.
And finally, if it´s true, the Oozaru looking more like a werewolf. That was the limit. If James Wong were in charge of King Kong movie (and not Peter Jackson), then he would turn king kong into a werewolf? just because it´s an adaptation?

They are my opinions on how the trailer was viewed through “my” perspective and I found the trailer to be lackluster in certain areas and they could have edited better scenes (captivating ones) into the trailer. That’s just my initial reaction to a trailer that isn’t the best quality. I’m sure I’ll be able to give a more clear and hopefully positive opinion (If the final theatrical trailer is good of course) when the trailer is posted online in High Definition.

@Craig: Well being that it’s based on DB you’d think it would be more action than just some guys doing a bunch of flips and barrel rolls up to 7-10 ft in the air and a lot of dynamite explosions after the actors’ hands turn blue.

Wow, I’m impressed. I like the color tone and the action looks pretty good. I wish they were real martial artists, but hey. So far this trailer looks tight, hopefully the movie pulls through. Looks like it will though, very excited!

the teaser only shows cut off of the whole teaser and i think theres a lot of scenes to be shown. for the 1st tym i saw this trailer im so amazed but i want some more fantastical and more strength type fighting like the hancock movie did.(smashing to buildings and to mountains like matrix.) i hope i can see that too in this movie. AND IM SURE THAT FOR THE PART 2 MORE ACTION AND MORE POWERFUL BLAST AND ACTION WILL BE AND DONT U GUYS GET THAT THIS IS ONLY PART 1 THE REAL ULTIMATE FIGHTING SCENE WILL BE ON PART 2 ON 3 ALL SCENES THAT U EXPECT WILL BE SHOWN THERE AND IM SURE WITH THAT.

after seeing the teaser i’m still on the fence about this movie. i mean it has its cool moments like Goku doing that spinning dodge between those two guys or when it looked like piccolo through him through that wall but it doesnt really look that spectacular. it doesnt look bad or anything it just doesnt get me excited at all. but hey it is just a teaser so i hope in the real trailer they amp up the adrenaline cuz right now my opioin is pretty much meh

One thing I REALLY hope they keep is the Kamehameha pose from the anime.
I can deal with all the changes because duh its an adaption but come on, if you can have Gokus GI similar to the anime, you can have the Kamehameha technique pose the same

HELLO!! Trailers are just clips, for all we know there’s a big chunk cut out from when he throws the blast and the explosion.
The way the trailer is cut it suggests that it is all one scene (And it probably is) but there’s definitely a “chunk” cut out there.

Im not gonna lie, this trailer looks very good, even without sound im impressed, Everything has a rich color,very clean, kind of griddy in the action, and just badass really.
I think the in podcast the guest spoke out to much against the trailer, when really (in my opinion) the trailer has everything a TEASER needs, it wants to tease the crap out of you and keep you wondering, if every action scene had dialog to explain what was happening, there would be no point in watching the film. Its only scratching the surface of what the movie has to offer, and im very impressed =D

OK OK I get it. Its called Dragon Ball right? So why isnt Bulma’s hair blue? Why dosnt Goku have his tail? Why isnt Master Roshi balled and who the hell Mai???? Ive seen all of Dragon Ball, Drangon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT and from what I saw I kind of feel let down. Every body thinks its going be the shit but I really dont think so. I am huge fan of the anime and of the manga so if the movie dosnt come up to par I think it will suck!!!!!!!!! But it wont let not love the anime or the manga any more.
