Ok. I was really looking forward to this trialer, but in all honesty, does this look like a REAL theatrical trailer? The sound effects playing when Goku twists are nothing short of cheesy, and in all honesty, the pauses to show who is Goku, Bulma, and Yamcha where quite moronic.
I love Dragonball just as much as the next guy, if not more, but as a true fan, this trailer did not live up to my expectations. But….there might be more, so I still have hope

anyway time for some actual pulling apart of the trailer…
when we first see roshi he has a beard, im thinking this is a flashback or where the movie will start. And that is where we see the other dragon temple members.
Goku recieveing his gi, I might be wrong as I havnt seen the episode in a while but didnt roshi give them there gi’s in a suitcase as well just before the martial arts tournament?
then at 23 seconds we see goku and chi chi standing next to each other beofre goku looks at the eclipse. I think this seen is gohans funeral.
at 37 we see a fight with scenerary that looks like it was taken straight out of the anime, looks fantastic, the person in the air is bald, It is possible that it is piccolo.
Then we go to bulma looking threw a hole in the wall, followed soon by yamcha with a drill, most likely related. It would seem that they are trying to break into somewhere probaly to get a dragonball.
Also in the second trailer we see bulma coming through some doors with guns out. the room looks futeristic, possibly piccolos hidout?
Then we see some energy bolts from roshi, piccolo and explosions, a montage of some of the action.
So I think from this trailer we get quiet a bit of whats going to happen in the movie.

it definately has a japanese feel to it…so far im not blown away by the 2nd trailer, but i like it aloottt….cheessy sound effects when goku flips loool, this movie will kickass.
People complaining about the same stuff we’ve known about for months is getting old fast:
-Goku at some point, would have had to kiss ChiChi in the manga/anime (do we forget that they’re married?) Akira left love scenes out purposefully. I forgot the reasoning, but part of it was the manga was intended for boys.
-Goku was often scared in the anime. And he often didn’t want to do things. It’s when his friends/the world is in danger that he is motivated. Otherwise, he’d just want to eat and fight. (Chatwin already stated his goku isn’t afraid to fight, but the trailer isn’t talking about fighting. We don’t know what the “prophecy” is, and we don’t know what part of the movie that dialogue piece is from.
It could be Goku talking to a dieing Gohan, when Gohan tells him to find Roshi. It’s a good idea to never take dialogue out of context.
-Roshi without hair and glasses. If anyone is still complaining about this- they’re either new to earth, or they’re just trying to be annoying
-As For Bulma fighting- she has guns, she’s not going to be doing any ki blasts (that we know of.) Bulma was always gun-ready in the original episodes of the anime, but that got put into Launch’s territory.
Besides which, we’ve known from before the movie was being shot that they were adjusting the film so the female characters would actually do something. Why is that bad?

Okay. So I have to give my true opinion on this.
The good: It looks epic.
The bad: Aside from the epic part, it’s a little mindboggling. I have to be honest, it’s nothing I expected. But then again, I’m not really sure what I expected. I know it’s supposed to be an adaptation, but sometimes movie are too… Americanized? No, too… I don’t know. I mean, what Adam said in the podcast about he wished it was “Stylized” more, I can’t agree with him more. And the one thing that I just absolutely do not want to happen for this movie is that there won’t be any humor in it. Im mean, Dragonball/Z is known for its badass story lines and its badass fight scenes, but it’s also known for its badass humor as well. I’m just scared that Fox and/or James Wong wasn’t creative or tactful enough to incorporate the trademark Dragonball Humor in this movie and its going to be totally serious and totally cheese. You know, when somethings “too” serious, it’s stupid. And you think to yourself, “Self, did they really think that was suppose to be badass and realistic?”
Maybe it’s just me, but I just think that the Dragonbal humor factor, upon other major factors like the story line and the acting, could make or break this movie. Yes I’m excited for it, but believe me when I say I’m biting my nails for this movie.

About the look of the Ki, well I would hope these effects are very early pre-production. If i’m honest, Roshi’s Ki blast when holding the power pole…It reminds me too much of the Force Push in Star Wars Unleashed.
Saying that though, I do like the “Containment Wave” he did.
Overall, I am still very excited to see this movie.

Ok, The trailer is awesome, I’m way happy they released this. It looks pretty good, though it’s not really true to Dragonball. Funny how they give Goku a new best friend he never really had, and they don’t have Krillin?
Also, PEOPLE! Piccolo is not Green in this movie, he’s white. You guys are trippin HARD. Also, there’s no intenas on his head. The slight green is just from light reflections and such, just look at the photo shots of him anyways, is he green there? What do you guys think, he morphs into green sometime in the movie? Just except it, Fox toyed with Dragonball and made it their way and that’s it. If they had Akira Toriyama helping them out, then we’d see the TRUE live action movie. No offense but for true fans of the series, you gotta admit you’re disappointed that they didn’t really stay true to the series. . I just hope they can make this movie as bad ass as possible, it should be funny, Dark, MEAN, and a hell of a lot of cool fighting. PLEASE!

Im really uneasy about this. Think of the other movies fox has dished out trailers for; Max Payne, and The Day The Earth Stood Still. They each have really good music, and set a tone for the movie. Those trailers are what I call epic, because it sets out the outline of the movie.
But as for this trailer, as cool as it was with no sound…the diaologe is kinda crappy, and the music could have been way better if its being done by immediate music. Not to mention the stupid sound effects when roshi jumps off soem balcony, or Goku is flipping through the air.
Trust me, Im not trying to hate. I absolutely love Dragonball, and I have supported this movie since December and I will continue. All I am saying, is this is really NOT what I expected for the delay of post production and the long awaited trailer.
Think about it, the trailer made no sense, everything was out of place. It would show Goku in his orange gi, then it would cut to him doing flips near a high school party. People who have never visited this site, or (the general audience) who has never heard of this movie will think this is some stupid kiddy film. I really was hoping this movie would have a dark edgy tone, and even its own animation, like sin city or 300 like some of you said before. They REALLY could have put together a better teaser trailer that explains at least some things, not some cheesy rhym at the beginning, and talking about a prophecy which the audience will not know what its talking about. I mean, I know its a teaser, but aside that, its way to fast paced. I had to watch it like 5 times to figure out what was going on because it showed way too many people and explosions and no story line. Piccolo kinda looked like Lord Sith in that costume too xD
But aside from all that, I like the new text, and I think the fight coreagrphing or whatever is pretty well put together. I really like the flips and all that, and even how good goku is sportin’ that gi, but they could have put a better teaser together like Wolverine. Hopefully this is only a promo, and there is an actuall trailer locked somewhere in the basement of Fox, waiting to be released come October 17th. Thats what Im hoping.

As a die hard DragonBall fan all I can is this: my childhood dreams of this movie being made has now been shattered. There are a million reasons from Gokus character, Bulmas hair, and other minute things of why I am disliking this film already. However, I understand the film is being made with a more realistic approach and such. In that context alone I can see this being a decent film, but it’s far from what I thought of and the original series. It’ll be bittersweet watching it when released.

who ever thinks that this is DragonBall is sadly mistaken. the people casted for the rolls of the characters are absurd. roshi and piccolo are the only 2 that can pass for the likeness of the characters. this nothin but some american martial arts movie with the name DragonBall to sell tickets to idiot kids who dont really know what it means to be a true DB, DBZ, and GT fan. i expected better from fox. those of you who think this movie looks good, probably thought the forbidden kingdom was good. even though it had nothing to do with the actual forbidden kingdom but more of the monkey king legend. it should have been call legend of the monkey king. the only good thing i can say about this movie is that the fighting might be okay, even though their wont be much of it. who dont believe me, so be it. i’ve seen a lot of movies based on the best games, shows, comics, and stories. and 90% of the failed miserably. if you dont believe look back at all the movies based on good tv series, games, comics, and stories and really think about if it was a really good movie or not.

Goku wasn’t afraid of normal things, but he did show fear. He’s not a robot.
-Krillin not returning when the gang goes out to dinner after the world tournament.
-His first fight with Tao
-Goku trying to get to a ship in time to get off Namek
-Goku realizing Cell didn’t die after he blew him self up
He wasn’t paralyzed with fear, but neither is Chatwin’s Goku.
There’s also the fact that this is not the Goku from the show, and whereas, I know there will be, and must be similarities to the character we know and love, you kind of have to allow for there to be differences to.
I’ve said this before, but from what I’ve seen, the Goku in the film is the character from the anime, only he grew up in a slightly different situation. 2 make a 1 and 1/2 hour story, things need to be cut- so you take out the stuff in the middle, and then you have to mold your characters around that.
Also, and this is what my main point was before- don’t take his line out of context. I am almost 90% sure, Goku’s talking to Gohan when he says that line.
I also think they’ve meshed Roshi and Gohan’s lines. You can see a change in voice when Roshi speaks on screen.

changed it a LOT obviously. roshi didnt know about the dragonballs at first…bulma did.

Im just disgusted that they left out krillin. i wouldve taken krillin over yamcha. krillin plays more of a vital role in the piccolo saga…krillin is the one that gets killed that makes goku flip out and go after piccolo, remember?
anyway, piccolo, although different, looks kinda cool. i think the straight up green w/ antenna and purple clothes and crap would make him look quite retarted on the big screen. good choice. and people, yeah, he is green, but in the light it looks white, so, im thinking, a very pale green? lol.
also, the ki blasts just look like balls, not streams of energy.
i am dissappointed, i was so looking forward to hugebeams of light (think lightsaber light from SW) shooting across the screen, with good CG, it couldve been INCREDIBLE.

Just so everyone knows If you like to watch DragonballZ and find it to be a good show the YOU ARE A TRUE FAN! Everyone finds something they like about the show and not everyone likes the same thing but they accept it as a whole. Who is anyone else to tell you whether something is good or not. There will be people who like the movie and those who don’t, that doesn’t mean the one who disliked it is a better fan than the one who liked it and vise versa. There are such things as hardcore fans and just fans but they are all true fans!
Example: if I like a piece of art being an art fan and another art fan does not like it does that mean i am not a true art fan? NO! It means i have different taste than the other person and i found something i like that he or she doesn’t see or appreciate like i do. Doesn’t make them or myself any less an art fan. And i have no right telling him or her they don’t know good art or are not true artistic fans and neither do they. The only thing i can think of where goku says he is not ready for something is when he recovers from his heart disease and when asked if he is going to fight cell he says he is not quite ready to face cell yet and he needs to train. Hopefully that line in the movie is something like this “I’m not ready for this yet i need more training before i can take him on.” Cuz goku loves a good fight but he knows he needs training for his fights. Only viable reason i woud accept him saying that.
Oh yea also he mentions to piccolo there is no way they can defeat a power like cell yet until after their training, and later piccolo says not even goku can beat Cell and then goku looks down disapointedly, at which point Trunks and Vegeta come out of the time chamber.
So lets give it the benefit of the doubt and hope it is a line like that or something. if not well that doesn’t sound like the goku i know

Boy, this Goku is a different Goku. This one goes to high school and isn’t as 2D as the Goku from the anime (sorry guys, was never a big fan of him). This Goku has a presence of mind to feel fear and accept that fear, that isn’t to say he won’t do anything about that fear, it will all be part of his emotional journey.

I’m not surprised about these teasers. I’m just as disappointed as before. If they think Piccolo is green, guess what? not from what I saw. I know, I’m not colorblind. For those who haven’t seen the anime, I strongly suggest you watch it first. You’ll be glad you did. And all I’m going to say is don’t waste your money on this film. Even the teaser looks good, just don’t.

Really hope the theatrical trailer won’t look like that. Some pictures are nice, but the result looks very amateur. Cheesy effects (slowdown then acceleration, with the car…), lame dialogs (since when could Goku say something like “I’m not ready for this??” seriously, he’s the kind of guy who could say “ok let’s do it” in every situation), crappy editing…

Ok. I was really looking forward to this trialer, but in all honesty, does this look like a REAL theatrical trailer? The sound effects playing when Goku twists are nothing short of cheesy, and in all honesty, the pauses to show who is Goku, Bulma, and Yamcha where quite moronic.

anyway time for some actual pulling apart of the trailer…
when we first see roshi he has a beard, im thinking this is a flashback or where the movie will start. And that is where we see the other dragon temple members.
Goku recieveing his gi, I might be wrong as I havnt seen the episode in a while but didnt roshi give them there gi’s in a suitcase as well just before the martial arts tournament?
then at 23 seconds we see goku and chi chi standing next to each other beofre goku looks at the eclipse. I think this seen is gohans funeral.
at 37 we see a fight with scenerary that looks like it was taken straight out of the anime, looks fantastic, the person in the air is bald, It is possible that it is piccolo.
Then we go to bulma looking threw a hole in the wall, followed soon by yamcha with a drill, most likely related. It would seem that they are trying to break into somewhere probaly to get a dragonball.
Also in the second trailer we see bulma coming through some doors with guns out. the room looks futeristic, possibly piccolos hidout?
Then we see some energy bolts from roshi, piccolo and explosions, a montage of some of the action.
So I think from this trailer we get quiet a bit of whats going to happen in the movie.
IF you notice, during the scene with Goku doing a handstand, he gets his feet caught on clotheslines. A user over on Dragonball Movie Blog said that the movie starts with Gohan and Goku fighting on clotheslines. Interesting.

People complaining about the same stuff we’ve known about for months is getting old fast:
-Goku at some point, would have had to kiss ChiChi in the manga/anime (do we forget that they’re married?) Akira left love scenes out purposefully. I forgot the reasoning, but part of it was the manga was intended for boys.
-Goku was often scared in the anime. And he often didn’t want to do things. It’s when his friends/the world is in danger that he is motivated. Otherwise, he’d just want to eat and fight. (Chatwin already stated his goku isn’t afraid to fight, but the trailer isn’t talking about fighting. We don’t know what the “prophecy” is, and we don’t know what part of the movie that dialogue piece is from.
It could be Goku talking to a dieing Gohan, when Gohan tells him to find Roshi. It’s a good idea to never take dialogue out of context.
-Roshi without hair and glasses. If anyone is still complaining about this- they’re either new to earth, or they’re just trying to be annoying
-As For Bulma fighting- she has guns, she’s not going to be doing any ki blasts (that we know of.) Bulma was always gun-ready in the original episodes of the anime, but that got put into Launch’s territory.
Besides which, we’ve known from before the movie was being shot that they were adjusting the film so the female characters would actually do something. Why is that bad?
Okay. So I have to give my true opinion on this.
The good: It looks epic.
The bad: Aside from the epic part, it’s a little mindboggling. I have to be honest, it’s nothing I expected. But then again, I’m not really sure what I expected. I know it’s supposed to be an adaptation, but sometimes movie are too… Americanized? No, too… I don’t know. I mean, what Adam said in the podcast about he wished it was “Stylized” more, I can’t agree with him more. And the one thing that I just absolutely do not want to happen for this movie is that there won’t be any humor in it. Im mean, Dragonball/Z is known for its badass story lines and its badass fight scenes, but it’s also known for its badass humor as well. I’m just scared that Fox and/or James Wong wasn’t creative or tactful enough to incorporate the trademark Dragonball Humor in this movie and its going to be totally serious and totally cheese. You know, when somethings “too” serious, it’s stupid. And you think to yourself, “Self, did they really think that was suppose to be badass and realistic?”
Maybe it’s just me, but I just think that the Dragonbal humor factor, upon other major factors like the story line and the acting, could make or break this movie. Yes I’m excited for it, but believe me when I say I’m biting my nails for this movie.

About the look of the Ki, well I would hope these effects are very early pre-production. If i’m honest, Roshi’s Ki blast when holding the power pole…It reminds me too much of the Force Push in Star Wars Unleashed.
Saying that though, I do like the “Containment Wave” he did.
Overall, I am still very excited to see this movie.

Ok, The trailer is awesome, I’m way happy they released this. It looks pretty good, though it’s not really true to Dragonball. Funny how they give Goku a new best friend he never really had, and they don’t have Krillin?

I think this moron Wong must be confusing Goku with Gohan. I’ll admit I did the same thing before but that was before I watched the actual show and only knew of its existence.
Im really uneasy about this. Think of the other movies fox has dished out trailers for; Max Payne, and The Day The Earth Stood Still. They each have really good music, and set a tone for the movie. Those trailers are what I call epic, because it sets out the outline of the movie.
But as for this trailer, as cool as it was with no sound…the diaologe is kinda crappy, and the music could have been way better if its being done by immediate music. Not to mention the stupid sound effects when roshi jumps off soem balcony, or Goku is flipping through the air.
Trust me, Im not trying to hate. I absolutely love Dragonball, and I have supported this movie since December and I will continue. All I am saying, is this is really NOT what I expected for the delay of post production and the long awaited trailer.
Think about it, the trailer made no sense, everything was out of place. It would show Goku in his orange gi, then it would cut to him doing flips near a high school party. People who have never visited this site, or (the general audience) who has never heard of this movie will think this is some stupid kiddy film. I really was hoping this movie would have a dark edgy tone, and even its own animation, like sin city or 300 like some of you said before. They REALLY could have put together a better teaser trailer that explains at least some things, not some cheesy rhym at the beginning, and talking about a prophecy which the audience will not know what its talking about. I mean, I know its a teaser, but aside that, its way to fast paced. I had to watch it like 5 times to figure out what was going on because it showed way too many people and explosions and no story line. Piccolo kinda looked like Lord Sith in that costume too xD
But aside from all that, I like the new text, and I think the fight coreagrphing or whatever is pretty well put together. I really like the flips and all that, and even how good goku is sportin’ that gi, but they could have put a better teaser together like Wolverine. Hopefully this is only a promo, and there is an actuall trailer locked somewhere in the basement of Fox, waiting to be released come October 17th. Thats what Im hoping.

As a die hard DragonBall fan all I can is this: my childhood dreams of this movie being made has now been shattered. There are a million reasons from Gokus character, Bulmas hair, and other minute things of why I am disliking this film already. However, I understand the film is being made with a more realistic approach and such. In that context alone I can see this being a decent film, but it’s far from what I thought of and the original series. It’ll be bittersweet watching it when released.

who ever thinks that this is DragonBall is sadly mistaken. the people casted for the rolls of the characters are absurd. roshi and piccolo are the only 2 that can pass for the likeness of the characters. this nothin but some american martial arts movie with the name DragonBall to sell tickets to idiot kids who dont really know what it means to be a true DB, DBZ, and GT fan. i expected better from fox. those of you who think this movie looks good, probably thought the forbidden kingdom was good. even though it had nothing to do with the actual forbidden kingdom but more of the monkey king legend. it should have been call legend of the monkey king. the only good thing i can say about this movie is that the fighting might be okay, even though their wont be much of it. who dont believe me, so be it. i’ve seen a lot of movies based on the best games, shows, comics, and stories. and 90% of the failed miserably. if you dont believe look back at all the movies based on good tv series, games, comics, and stories and really think about if it was a really good movie or not.
Goku wasn’t afraid of normal things, but he did show fear. He’s not a robot.
-Krillin not returning when the gang goes out to dinner after the world tournament.
-His first fight with Tao
-Goku trying to get to a ship in time to get off Namek
-Goku realizing Cell didn’t die after he blew him self up
He wasn’t paralyzed with fear, but neither is Chatwin’s Goku.
There’s also the fact that this is not the Goku from the show, and whereas, I know there will be, and must be similarities to the character we know and love, you kind of have to allow for there to be differences to.
I’ve said this before, but from what I’ve seen, the Goku in the film is the character from the anime, only he grew up in a slightly different situation. 2 make a 1 and 1/2 hour story, things need to be cut- so you take out the stuff in the middle, and then you have to mold your characters around that.
Also, and this is what my main point was before- don’t take his line out of context. I am almost 90% sure, Goku’s talking to Gohan when he says that line.
I also think they’ve meshed Roshi and Gohan’s lines. You can see a change in voice when Roshi speaks on screen.

Just so everyone knows If you like to watch DragonballZ and find it to be a good show the YOU ARE A TRUE FAN! Everyone finds something they like about the show and not everyone likes the same thing but they accept it as a whole. Who is anyone else to tell you whether something is good or not. There will be people who like the movie and those who don’t, that doesn’t mean the one who disliked it is a better fan than the one who liked it and vise versa. There are such things as hardcore fans and just fans but they are all true fans!
Example: if I like a piece of art being an art fan and another art fan does not like it does that mean i am not a true art fan? NO! It means i have different taste than the other person and i found something i like that he or she doesn’t see or appreciate like i do. Doesn’t make them or myself any less an art fan. And i have no right telling him or her they don’t know good art or are not true artistic fans and neither do they. So if anyone wants to say Those who like the movie are not fans or vise versa, your an idiot keep that opinion to yourself. No such thing as a true fan. There are just fans. You wanna give your opinion on the movie fine, but acknowledge other’s opinions are valid to them too.

The only thing i can think of where goku says he is not ready for something is when he recovers from his heart disease and when asked if he is going to fight cell he says he is not quite ready to face cell yet and he needs to train. Hopefully that line in the movie is something like this “I’m not ready for this yet i need more training before i can take him on.” Cuz goku loves a good fight but he knows he needs training for his fights. Only viable reason i woud accept him saying that.
Oh yea also he mentions to piccolo there is no way they can defeat a power like cell yet until after their training, and later piccolo says not even goku can beat Cell and then goku looks down disapointedly, at which point Trunks and Vegeta come out of the time chamber.
So lets give it the benefit of the doubt and hope it is a line like that or something. if not well that doesn’t sound like the goku i know

Boy, this Goku is a different Goku. This one goes to high school and isn’t as 2D as the Goku from the anime (sorry guys, was never a big fan of him). This Goku has a presence of mind to feel fear and accept that fear, that isn’t to say he won’t do anything about that fear, it will all be part of his emotional journey.

I’m not surprised about these teasers. I’m just as disappointed as before. If they think Piccolo is green, guess what? not from what I saw. I know, I’m not colorblind. For those who haven’t seen the anime, I strongly suggest you watch it first. You’ll be glad you did. And all I’m going to say is don’t waste your money on this film. Even the teaser looks good, just don’t.

Really hope the theatrical trailer won’t look like that. Some pictures are nice, but the result looks very amateur. Cheesy effects (slowdown then acceleration, with the car…), lame dialogs (since when could Goku say something like “I’m not ready for this??” seriously, he’s the kind of guy who could say “ok let’s do it” in every situation), crappy editing…
+ U don’t even understand what’s happening in this trailer, just a lot of 1sec scenes with no sense…

Piccolo does not LOOK GREEN. I did not see anywhere in the trailer showing that Piccolo is GREEN. He still looks the same colour which was PALE but NOT GREEN!!!!.
The fight scenes are going to be Epic!! This trailer showed everything needed to be shown in a trailer. This is the best trailer I seen since The Matrix!!!! Everything looked soooo real!!!! The energy blasts looked absolutely AMAZING and the fighting brought you back to the Matrix films!!

First impression, look childish. I am expecting like because this is a Hollywood version it will have the same aura as X-men or likes. It feels like it has the same aura as Speed Racer; well I guest that’s what the end result if you try making an anime to a live action.
