We were sent a new photo today, which we’re told is of Piccolo (James Marsters) in a pre-green state. Supposedly he evolves throughout the movie, and at one point becomes greener. It looks like his wardrobe also evolves.

I like how Piccolos coat is looking ( The texture and color look far better in the coat). My one complaint is Piccolos lips being pink, and the fact that the face make up looks rather grainy and a bit cheap. But its very possible that they intended to make his face seem a bit grainy (Remember the reports of moss growing in Piccolos face/head within crevasses).

I do see a small hint of green…Very small. Not bad in all. But like you said, this is a “PRE-GREEN”! Though, I do like how James (Piccolo) “looks” so far!

Hes cloke looks very simular to the 300 ones, which is a good thing. The colours look good and it looks like there may have been a ancient greece influence. It looks like they designed him so that he could walk down the street with out attracting to much attention, unless someone got to close then they would notice and ask if he was feeling ok you look a bit green:)

well his not THAT green, but its ok, at least his not white (like he was in the 1st picture that he appeared), i loved the cloak, its not white like the anime but whatever it still looks like a lord.

but we know, not matter what, there’ll be hate, but thats not just for dragonball guys, its for everything in life, you cant please every1, the problem is that sometimes is just for pure hate even if they actualy like, stop nit-picking.

One of the reason why he looks so human in these pictures is because he has his hood down. Most of his alianish features are above his eyes. You can see from the picture on the left that they have followed the marking from the origanl piccolo with crease marks at the top of his nose and no eyebrows.

The robe is very detailed like Craig said, I love it. His look on the first picture is very dark and evil, although he isn’t completely green it seems, that his forming into it. Looks good to me

I dont know it just reminds me of somthing from masters of the universe. It just looks really poorly done. I am huge DB/Z/GT fan I am stoked for the movie, I just get close to the picture and it looks like his makeup was done by a parent getting their kid ready for halloween !!

Hello everyone DragonBall… come on people you know better. this is not like DB, its look like a own created story with characters that are diffrent from the cartoon! its nothing like DragonBall. I mean look at those personages, piccolo in wite color?? is he changed into albino AND GOKU!? it doesnt even looks like Goku. Look at his hair and his clothes. Goku was wearing that orange looking clothes everytime. I think if they are going to make that movie.. then they have to go for it! I am sure all DBZ FANS in the world will be dissapointed if they see this horrible movie. I am fan of DBZ and I am dissapointed already I dont know about you, but I will not see this movie as the REAL DragonBall movie.. everybody in de whole movie must be perfect like the cartoon and the story must too! this what I was thinking…

You guys got to remember that Piccolo is a plant person, like all the other Namekians. Plant people need sunlight and water to survive, Piccolo even stated in the anime that he only needs to drink water. So, think about it. He was locked away for who knows how long… One would assume that he would wither a bit. Once he’s back out in the world, he would liven up a bit. That’s my take on it atleast… I love James’ Piccolo regardless!

Lol people keep saying ”he looks like a human” well, piccolo DOES looks like a human, the only differencies are the antennas, no eyebrows and the green skin, in the picture he has no eyebrows, and his alittle green (pre-green so..), so only thing left are the antennas, which none knows 100% sure that they aren’t there (even thought it doesnt matter)

WOW! im impress of what they’ve done so far on him…well sort of. theres probably a good reason why he’s starts out white. as all u fans know king piccolo was locked away in a jar for a loooong pd of time by master mutaito nd probably over time, nd im assuming they added this part to the movie–after being away from light for so long his (pre-green)skin complection probably faded away. that makes sense right?? plus in most of the movies today dat are based on cartoons and/or graphic novels they dont stick to the complete storyline, like in IronMan he was suppose 2 be fighting Mandrian at the end, not Iron Monger also in the Spiderman flims if u didn’t notice dat Sam Raimi(the director) doesn’t keep spidermans villians for more den 1 film, green goblin dies in part 1, doc.oct drowns in part 2, the sandman dissapers, hob goblin gets killed and venom blows up IN PART 3 which he wasn’t suppose to. anyway im amazed by his coat. he doesn’t have 2 wear EXACTLY what he does in the anime, the clothing designer along with the writer probably wanted him 2 look realistic maybe jus MAde something for him 2 wear in the real world if he realy exsisted. for example: in the X-Men movie wolverine is wearing a dark colored jumpsuit but in the cartoon he’s wearing a yellow and black costume with a black mask on his face, samething with the Green Goblin nd the Hob Goblin in the spiderman movies, niether of them are wearing what they were in the the cartoon, but the movies came out good! right or wrong? so all u people critizing nd attackin this movie all need 2 stop and go to hell cause u obvisouly dont know a damn things about films!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! say whatever yall want but im behind this movie ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, this prototype of King Piccolo is exactly like Lord Slug, from the DBZ movies… King Piccolo is much taller and more evil then the Piccolo most know of… I am happy to see these new photos.

@Chibi: Namekians are bug aliens not plants. Most Plants don’t have the regenerative capabilities. Piccolo can regenerate lost limbs of his body, as long as his head is still intact. The name “Namek” is taken from the word namekuji which means “slug” in Japanese. And an interesting side note, Piccolo once ate fish at Goku’s house in an episode. Just thought I would point that out

Well i cant believe how positive the comments are. appearently most of the guys and girls here didnt watch db. this whole movie is loosely based on db characters and names. The whole setting of db is gone, the plotline seems to be messed up too. super sayians appear pretty far into dbz and cramming that topic into 1 movie is messed up. im not going to watch this movie, i wont taint my fond memories of db

I’m so glad they finally addressed the issue of non green Piccolo and the horrible looking “monster” Goku. Did antone notice Roshi’s shirt? A little pervy eh? Likin’ it. Piccolo needs to be green maybe he becomes greener because he gets younger after all Namekians do change color when they’re older(although they usually get darker but I’m not complaining).

dudes do you not remember garlic jr. he was locked away in the anime and came out very pale. nameks need water. that is what gives them their green colour. if anything, they’ve tried to make it more like the cartoon. this is dragonball, that piccolo is not the same dude from dbz. and how many times do you have to read HE CHANGES MORE GREEN TOWARDS THE END.
the only thing im not liking so far in this movie is the whole high school thing. i guess it would be hard to change it into db times though and theyve gone for a more realstic approach which i do respect though only time will tell how good it is.

this movie will either have all fans leaving thinking WOW, or it will have fans disspaointed and if that is the case, people may have to see it as just a movie and not a reprisentation of db and dbz.

you know, im not raciest at all, but honestly im glad obama is president, cause he dos’nt make dumb excusses, like, this movie is live action so we must make dramatic changes to the most awsome peice of artistic literature of its time, in order to make it look real. No, not at all, instead he just says yes we can, and saves himself a bunch of typing and writing. For those who agree with this movie and think its going to be pretty good, and see us as haters. Witness the death of one of the most popular animes of its time, downfall in one year. Their are so many things wrong with this movie that I could list the most smallest issue about it, which completely takes all the literary elements that make the cartoon a work of art and completely craps on the artist who created the piece. Goku is in highschool. Its like recreating romeo and juilete and having them in highschool, wich completely undermines the warfare between the two clans as just moms and dads not liking eachother in the pta. but since the movie is more messed up than that, the only thing that can be done is to just scrap the movie. Fox if your listining, I don’t mean to sound bad or distastefull but that is the only option, cause i know you pissed the money down the drain on this one. And were not mad, we know its hard to coordinate things like obama has done, but learn from the mistakes and try harder next time please

I can have all the fans paying us 20 dollars each, after the subtitles of the first movie just to insure the production of a part 2, 3, alternative titles, alter, dimensions and reality of goku 4 and 5 and even gain revanue from the t.v series seen on spike, sci-fi or HBO n cinamax, then cartoon network. I know exactly what the movie should look like and how to please all the fans, but it would requier a complete recast except for bulma. But if not, it doesnt hurt to ask.

pros and cons of the movie. Sceanary’s are pretty good, except for the tumb or temple like place, the schools, the cityscapes. but the landscapes are pretty good. Characters, goku looks like a punk, in cartoon goku was never a punk just a cocky kid. Piccolo looks like some white guy, and if he is just a tint of green that wont change his white guy appearence which is why you should have scripted him and the dialog (the way the character speaks) as a black man, no more vampire stories. db was a futuristic setting, all the lamborginis and atvs just play the plot down. I assure you, if george lucus could do it you could have too. Here comes the plot, goku in highschool fighting against his peers, one this just confirms how much of a punk he is, second the only thing i can relate to this is disney’s highschool musical. Goku is out of school for a reason, that reason being that his existance is more than a preteen sitcom, and the world for that matter. third I noticed that if he is in highschool it would be very hard to incorporate the monkey like attributes, like his tail, again this is part of the cartoon. HOW CAN THEY CALL THIS DB WHEN NOTHING IS CITED FROM DB. ive heard what the other posters said about if i don’t like it I wont have to see it. this is not the case at all. If this movie goes into production the chances of another artist who really grew up with the anime will never have a chance at constructing this cartoon into a live-action piece of work, instead the hype of the cartoon will fade, and the real haters who hated the cartoon from the get go will be confirmed, and rightly so as if this was just some paroady like meet the spartans, and a scary movie. plus I know that fox is trying to extort money for a cheap product, which heartless to say if GM goes out of buisness, I hope fox does to after making this movie.

Okay, Picclo is a plant person. Plants can’t photosynthasize without the sun. If you’ve ever picked up a lawn you have seen the whitish grass underneath it. Plants turn white without the sun. Assuming that not much sunlight could get through the rice cooker it makes sense that he’d be whitish when he escaped. He’d naturaly turn greener as he got more sun.

they didn’t just make little changes here and there, they completely scrapped the source material, and yes king piccolo does make a huge difference because, for one, piccolo is green, he comes from a race of GREEN people with ANTENNAES, I don’t know why your head is so thick that you can’t understand why the live-action version deviates completely from the manga/anime, it does make a huge difference, this isn’t just another live-action movie adaption of an anime with minor changes

it’s insulting to the source material (which I’m not even sure they studied) it’s a disapointment to the fans and you sir obviously do not know anything about dragonball

Okay…so does he transform or not because it looked like he stays green throughout the movie in the trailer…

I totally agree with Mathew and dbzfan. This movie sucks! Maybe it will have the best visual effects, maybe Piccolo looks cool…but who cares about that?! Piccolo has to be green always! Goku goes to school from what i’ve heard…jajajaja…c’mon. They added too many cliches from hollywood…

Okay i went back and re watched the episodes with the namecks and even pulled out the return of Cooler for more information.
They never come right out and say that namecks are plant people…. BUT they DO live on a world with THREE suns.. and dont really need to eat solid food un less they have to.. Dende gives Gohan, Krillin and Bulma a break down of this at one point where they first meet.
So im assuming they are some kind of instect or bug or, mollusk aliens that have the ablitiy to photo synthaize food.. if they choos to.. or like our friend Piccolo does, eat solid food on occasion.
That being said..
i agreed with most of the other people here that have said this.. you stick a plant or a thing that has cloraphyill in it in the dark and guess what.. they turn yellow…
Being as how our buddy here was stuck in a prayer urn for 2000 years.. he didnt have a chance to do either.. eat or photosyntasize in which case.. poor dude’s gonna be yellow.
He gets greener as time goes on.. look at some of the other picks.
so.. chill alreay
its gonna be a cool flick.
give it half a chance.
