Repairman, I’m a serious fan of dragonball and I am very dedicated. But I have to say.. I don’t have a problem with any points in the movie where goku just plays it chill, I’m a 17 year old guy, it sorta plays to that.
I don’t think a complete idiot would work all the time, definitely on the big screen. Semi-idiot works though.

well done trailer. It focuses on the what’s going to be the movie’s strong points, visually appealing and action. The dialogue isn’t great but it doesn’t have to be.
I think RJ’s theory could be correct because if you go to yahoo movies the synopsis of the movie has changed and if you look at 0:12 on the trailer it looks like a saiyan pod landing on Earth.
Overall, it’s a great trailer.

i dont like how mellow and focused goku is tho, hopefully in the movies he more carefree and overly positive,im not saying import his personality directly, im not even saying make him really naive, just the way he is. There making him out to be this guys whos given a destiny and coping with it, goku jus lives life and does wuts right, im not a hater i just thot the trailer would include some more trademark things, even his tone of voice is just so w/e.
Everything else seemed ok, one thing i dont get is are they saying humans made the dragonballs…….
Definitely not feeling Chatwin as Goku. It’s not just that one line about doubting himself, either. It’s the entire look (gelled hair and regular clothes… Justin Chatwin looks like, well, Justin Chatwin, or Elijah Wood or something — not Goku), not to mention the feel for his character in the trailer. I’m still waiting for the entire movie before I judge it completely, but so far, the movie’s interpretation of Goku seems to be this kinda normal high-schooler, etc., who just so happens to have superpowers. It’s a recycled archetype which usually makes it’s way into action movies . . . and I really hope that that’s not how Goku turns out. =/
The special effects and fighting, however, seem to be quite awesome. Good to know that that money went to good use. I’m definitely pumped to see more.
Bulma’s Capsule Corp-esque motorcycle was pretty sweet to see, as well; glad they decided to re-interpret that for the movie instead of abandoning it all together.
And yay, Piccolo is greener! XD You don’t see too much of the guy in the trailer, but dang, James Marsters’ Piccolo seems quite awesome. Lovin’ the voice.

looks alrite, lets hope the movie proves better, fox hasnt got a great track record of late and this movie hinges on the performance of the actors. it can be said piccolo looks and sounds far better than most people probably expected. is it just me or are they going for a more cartoony vibe or is that just below par visual effects in some of it (the auras look a bit dodgy when their on the wires)? either way i think the general look of it suits db

I think it looks awsome and do agree I dont like the I’m not ready for this line but its a line it wont make or break this awsome movie. You also got to understand were all use to sean schemmels voice being on goku so it’s going to take getting used to. Over all I think Chatwin is perfect for Goku and most defiantely will pull of his character great awsome trailer though.

@REPAIR MAN MAN: LMAO, I still don’t like the hair. XD I’d prefer something that just looks messy, but natural, rather than the obviously gelled look. But I suppose, since Wong and co. wanted to make it more “realistic,” they wanted it to look gelled so that they can say, well, yeah, he has crazy hair, because he makes it like that. It’s a more realistic way to explain away gravity-defying hair, haha. I definitely think that’s the case, too, because in some movie stills from the final battle, Chatwin’s hair appears more natural (not gelled), and his hair has fallen in front of his hair, making it look like he has bangs, etc. I dunno, maybe I’ll get used to it. . . .
But yeah, Piccolo looks pretty cool. I’m not crazy about the Sith Lord get-up, but it’s not like it bugs me. The only thing that makes me laugh a little about it is that one of the reasons they probably put him in that gear is in order for Piccolo to have fake, sculpted muscles, because James Marsters isn’t ripped like that at all. Don’t look for Piccolo to be revealing anything below the neck in this movie, haha. That’s just my little prediction, though. XD

So I don’t think my dad sounds very goku-ish. I think the directors used very creative licensing on this movie. None-the-less, I think it will be a very, very successful movie. PICCOLO RULES THE EARTH!

Justin Chatwin doesn’t seem very goku-ish. It seems like goku is interpreted as highschool stereo type. I hope the reason for this is so they can draw in nondragonball Z fans to come see the film. (hopefully he doesn’t act that way through the whole film) Piccolo is quite spectacular, however. Great special effects.
Well just combine the two becasue really piccolo would have to be teamed up with the mystics in the past for them to know of him and such.
I think piccolo either came to earth on a whim or out of excile but either way I’d rather him be an enjoyable character before his imprisonment, so you see the two sides of the coin before goku convinces him that they shouldn’t be fighting but training and preparing for a potential return of the saiyan warriors.
lol you guys notice that the Kame house is on a small island in the middle of a city? Pretty “cool”. I was hoping they’d show some comedy from Goku but…they make him look like he’s fresh outta the army, all straight laced n shit. but w/e hopefully the movie will show his other side.

I will say one thing only. Did the fighting look really slow compared to the anime? Im sorry, but it looks so wired and staged, I can see right through it. It’s too Matrix style. well duh, it was done by the team who did the Matrix movies, so what can I expect?

I belive as mentioned above somewhere, that we are used to the sean schemmel voice of goku. It took me awhile to get used to sean’s voice when they changed it from the original one. But as time went on, I began to like his voice and the other characters voices even better than the originals.
It will be strange to here different voices, but it’s better than getting sean schemmel to actually PLAY the part of goku in the live action movie. And as for Goku sounding serious. Dude it’s a trailer. In spiderman 3 trailer they make it out to be all serious in order to get the overall point across (however nowhere in the spidey trailer does it show the scene where spiderman dances on chairs and acts really emo). You have to wait for the movie for that kind of stuff.

I think picollo might have been the 7th mystic. That would explain how humans created the dragonballs because, him being a namek would have told them how to do it.
Maybe somewhere along the line he turned evil and the mystics used picollo’s own power against him. So he must seek revenge.
I’m sorry to say this, but this is not dragonball. Anyone who has actually watched the anime or read the manga would know that this movie, by no means represents the awesome show called dragonball. I seriously feel like pointing out every mistake I’ve seen in this trailer, but that would mean I would have to go on a rant on the basis of all dragonball, meaning the fighting sequences, Goku’s and Muten Roshi’s characters, the dragonball universe and pretty much everything else. I’m seriously sorry on behalf of every … Oh, who am I kidding? Look, this movie sucks, it has nothing to do with the original creation and it’s so screwed up and americanised that I and no other serious fan of the series will enjoy it. Please do not release it! Just keep it for yourselves and try and make something better next time

it does look good, but that was the trailer! they choose most of the best bits from the film for the trailer so that might end up bein the only good parts from the film. I hope not because i am a huge fan, i just really hope it does really well so they can make a second film, it would be a better film because it would have more characters who are cooler i.e. sayans and young gohan!
Lets just hope it ends up bein one of the best action films of the year and makes a ton of money!

I think i liked it, after seeing that leaked teaser in octuber, i didnt think it could be this good, there are some nit-picks i could say i didnt like but overall i think is a 7 - 8/10, gotta admint, hard enough to bring an anime to live-action, even more DB, didnt see the movie yet but it looks like they did the best possible, i’m watching it.

He is just “chosen one”. damn, if only i would get a penny for every film with same plot. honestly, i think it misses the spirit of original dragon ball. OMG! Awesome! Amazing! Holy Sh**! I had a huge smile on my face from the moment I saw “Full Trailer Now Online!” Apparently they LIED to ussss, they said they wouldn’t have the trailer out this month after all, but noooo, we now have it and it is AMAZING!:D
This seems very much like the leaked supposed script that was posted in a comment page for something several months ago(I don’t remeber what the comment page was for, who posted the link to it, and I don’t want to look for it right now since I just woke up) because in the script the whole story revolved around the Dragonballs needing to be found before an eclipse and that the Earth was nearly destroyed long ago, but it was the Nameks who did it with the help of the great Oozaru, and it basically changed the Earth and humans had to rebuild. The ship we see hovering toward the beginning was interesting, I am wondering if these “gods” Roshi is talking about was a group of Nameks(but we learn in DBZ that they are peaceful, oh well) or as RJ stated in his first or one of his first posts for this trailer, it could have been the Saiyans who were destroying the Earth and Piccolo helped stop them.
I love the kai blasts, they looked more realistic because, at least in my opinion, energy would not really look like laser beams, it probably would look, I guess, like a burst of smoke and would have bits of energy coming off the sides and disepating. But the Kamehameha he did toward the end of the trailer looked cool, it was red and blue, though I couldn’t really hear him yelling “Kamehameha” over the rest of the sound in the trailer.
The motorcycle looked cool, it reminded me of the Transformers; they might have taken the idea of the transformation process from the Transformers movie last year. And of course, Piccolo sounded EVIL with the deep, cold voice. 
I must say, if the trailer shows any indication of how the movie will be, I think it will be AWESOME!

ok so i watched the trailer a couple times to analize it. im pleased with it. alright something i noticed about the diaolog in the trailer. “im not ready for this” is in a completely different scene. notice the difference in tone, it didnt match with roshi. also the charging up of the kamehameha was with 2 hands so the one ki blast was for something else.

I saw it this morning, and it was BADASS! Piccolo was green, Chatwin looked buff during the kamehameha, and Piccolo’s voice was SPOT ON!

I’ve been a fan of DB for a very long time and I hate the idea of a movie. Even though the movie looks a bit better with a trailer (compared to the video’s and pictures), I still think it’s a bad idea. Maybe once I see the movie I may change my mind but I doubt it. I hope it does change my mind, for the sake of the franchise.

The SFX looked pretty nice, and the action scenes are on point.

Now, after see the video, i still have some hope that goku isn’t a highscohol boy, but anyway, all the part of the “chosen one” is very bad. I hate this kind of arguments in movies.
I like the Capsule motorcycle and goku’s stick (”báculo” here in Chile). But i don`t like the seven balls created by humans, neither the eclypse thing.
I`m still dissapointed with the roshi look. It should be a funnier character (whit or whit out the bold head and the beard).
Maybe the story can be the same, or similar to the anime:
Piccolo/kamisama arrive to earth and as part of his training, he separates himself in to different personalities, the good one, and the bad one. The bad one try to destroi the earth, and the good one, help the 7 monks to create the dragon balls, and to stop bad piccolo. Therefore, the balls are created by a namekian anyway. what do you think?

The effects are good, and picollo IS GREEN yes! But I’m afraid to say Goku’s character has been completely and utterly destroyed. SORRY GUYS, THAT was not Goku, and unless the clips in the trailer is not representative of how he acts in the movie, I am disappointed. I have supported Justin Chatwin from the beginning, but its not his fault he has to say cheesy, stupid lines I guess. The overall feel I got is the movie is more hollywood then a Dragonball feel. But hey I could be wrong Anyways the movie and trailer definelty looks a million times better that I had feared from seeing all the cheap and worrying pictures. It wont be the greatest movie of all time by a LOOOOONG shot, but maybe they may improve in DBZ which is my ultimate fav anyway. Like Master Roshi may shave off his hair! LOL.

BTW If anyone has SEEN X-men Evolution, I guess you can understand why this is now called DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION, because like X-men evolution they have basically used the same character names and similar backstories and character histories, and COMPLETELY changed The stor line and many things. TBH it was alrite for Xmen coz it was just on cartoon on t.v , But to do this on a v. pop manga and anime, hmm… It’s risky Fox , very risky. Only thing left i gotta say to’em is, Watch the trailer, it IS official, it is the full one, there is nothing left for you to hope besides the actual movie, so please if you STILL hate the movie for whatever reason, just leave man, forget it, give it up, let it go for the ones who actually loved it and understand that it is NOT gonna be a copy of the anime and manga, that it IS just an adaptation and as the name said, it’ll be just an alternative story but it wont touch the lengendary original story as people keep crying about.

Downloading HD version now. Oh also, I think you guys are forgetting who’s originally narrating this trailer which is Roshi. Remember how far off Roshi & Bulma were in the beginning of the Dragon Ball series about the true origin of the dragon balls.
We only found out about who really created the dragon balls when Goku went to train with Kami.
Master Roshi was spouting some crap about, in the beginning there was one magical ball or something in the beginning of Dragon Ball (not sure if it’s the same in the manga).
Wow it’s worse than I imagined, I am so sorry, but if this consitutes for what Dragonball is then I’ll be damned to the pits of hell, for one as someone said above; 7 mystics I mean what the hell, and the eclypse of the moon, seriously, this is not Dragonball, this is another Hollywood bull-crap movie that has taken the names of the characters and title of the movie, and I don’t blame the actors they are just doing their job (badly).
This is too American, the characters are Asian for crying out loud, I think I have almost lost total respect for Akira Toriyama for allowing this disgrace Fox are calling Dragonball, excuse me Dragonball: Eveloution, What the hell is that supposed to mean? I seriously would redo it myself with actors of my choice with the “hair” for one in tact, I would make the story exactly to the manga like it’s my bible.
I think that this won’t only be the biggest fox office FAIL but would ruin everything that is Dragonball, thank fuck there was a remastered release of the anime for DBZ too.

Am I the only one who didn’t know the movie was going to be titled “Dragonball: Evolution”? I’ve been following this movie from the beginning and this is the first I’ve heard of it.(I do like it though!!)
i read alot of comments about the one handed kamehameha and the kamehameha being week. you have to relize that it is a trailer and that the one handed attack is probably just a typical Kai blast. i dont think that they would spoil a full powered kamehameha wave in the trailer. im sure that they will have a huge ass wave to finish the fight. when you push a saiyan to the edge you get your ass beat. remember that. and marster’s has done a perfect job with the voice of piccolo i wish he had antenni though. but it looks like an awesome movie.

I was just thinking about that line”I’m not ready for this” It probably diffrent is at a diffrent point of the movie you know what I mean not in the scene it shows in the trailer. I mean look at The Dark Knight for example one of the trailers the joker says It’s all part of the plan and it shows him looking at batman during the batpod scene and in fact in the movie the joker says that line in the hospital. So this line is definately in another scene you can tell by how its showed. So really I think it wont be as big of a deal as some people are making it.

But they decide to tarnish the name with modern day technology and effects…and one handed kamehameha’s.
It’s a great trailer. The only thing is that they say that the dragon balls were created by mystics. That probably means that the whole Kami story won’t be part of the movies. I do believe, however, that that was the original story in original Dragon Ball series. At some point in the story they do mention that the Dragon Balls were created by some sort of mystics, but then they change it for the whole Kami story. I wonder if they’ll do the same. Oh, and Piccolo looks much better than in the previous pictures we’ve seen of him. I hope they just don’t make it, as it seem they have, into a ‘Chosen One’ story. Oh well, I can’t wait until April.

I think they will make it into a chosen one story, which is fine by me. When the second one roles around, it probably will see the whole scale of things, and realize how small Goku is.
They have to build things up in a way to where their are surprises, not everything can be explained in the beginning how it will be revealed in the end. Thats where you purposefully mislead the audience so that you can surprise them later on, even if it is a sequel.

Dude, its just a Legend…. that means their can be mistakes. Maybe the “mystics” learned the art of the Nameks. Maybe the Nameks actually made the DBs but the Legend was wrong, and we will find out in the third movie on Namek.

I definitely am feeling all the action scenes and everything but the story still has me weary. I kno i’ve defended it time and time again because the movie is to be seen as an alternate version of Dragonball. But theyre making Goku out to be somethin he’s not. He would never say “Im not ready for this” and he was never made out to be the “chosen one” from some mysterious prophecy. He was just an alien that was really strong haha. As long as they show him landing on the planet as a baby then I’ll be happy, cuz at least then we kno they arent trying to make him out to be a mere human. Still cant wait for this movie tho

One of the the most powerful Kamehameha’s in the series EVER was one-handed. Gohan vs Cell. Tho I doubt that is the actual Kamehameha. More so they won’t show the whole process of it cause they’ll leave it for the movie itself. The one handed thing is just a reg. ki blast most likely similar to what Roshi does in the trailer earlier. Fuckwhatukno!
and of course, if they gonna release a trailer showing a website, at least get that site ready!!! xD

@DPA: YEH it is mutaito but there are only six mystics there the 7th mystic is piccolo i think in the film they wnt seperate piccolo from kami there will be one and thats why master roshi said the world was nearly destroyed by gods from the sky refering to piccolo in the past.
To be fair, it was not revealed that Goku was an alien in Dragonball. So I’m sure they are going to leave that as a major surprise either at the end of this movie, or the beginning of the next one.
Also, at least they are on track with the invaders from the stars.
