Ernie Hudson’s Role Revealed?

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Qwailo from DBMB posted some interesting information that apparently came straight from Ernie Hudson at Lodon Expo 2008. Qwailo asked which character he would be playing in the movie and Ernie replied with the following.

“I play a monk, who is Chow Yun Fat’s character’s master and he creates the jar that is used to contain/trap piccolo”.

The description sounds like Master Mutaito, though with the name changed possibly.

Translation after the jump.

Dragonball’s Producer Speaks (SPOILERS)

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Tim Van Rellim, Dragonball’s executive producer, recently spoke to a Durango newspaper, where he reveals MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS on the film.

Tim Van Rellim reveals that Goku dies in the beginning of the second part of Dragonball

At least that’s what recently commented Tim Van Rellim, producer of Dragon Ball, in an exclusive chat in el Siglo of Durango, in which he spelled out precisely the death of the protagonist will be the beginning of the second part of the story, it it is also very likely to be recorded in Durango.

“Durango has been a phenomenal place to record. We had many sets and the truth never felt paparazzis or harassment of the press and elsewhere and in other productions. It is a very quiet place, we were treated very well, “he said.

The producer of the film confessed that three movies are scheduled for history, the second of which is in the process of planning. “It is not yet confirmed, but it is more than likely that the costs billed in this city will bring us back.”

Another source of production reported that the blue skies of Durango is another very important reason. “In New Zealand there are very similar skies, but the sets are infested with Power Rangers.”

“Dragon Ball was an experience. We are very happy to have held only time we plan. There were not many setbacks, as only surprises when we were recording in Mexiquillo, but those are go with the job. ”

AT END OF YEAR PREMIERE PRODUCTION OF THE SECOND PART

When asked how long until the second part begins, the producer said he hoped to resume his post at the end of this year.

PREMIERES: Summer or October?

“We hurried, and the premiere will [hopefully] be in the summer or October at the latest.” (?)

It is now expected, because the following projects come with more purpose, i.e. with more shooting interiors than field. I hope to be back over here, we tried really hard [and it's been] incredible. ”

The behavior of the members of the cast, the producer said that he noticed them excited, but that it would not deliver trials of its performance before the cameras.

“That it is up to the director. I saw them many times and could only say wonderful things from them, “he concluded.

The translation isn’t perfect, but we can see sequels are clearly in the works.

Dragonball Sequel To Begin Filming 2009?

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Another huge bit of news from Movieland.

Second part of Dragonball will be shot in the first quarter of 2009

One of my sources was able to talk to one of the contractors who work with the production of Dragonball in Durango, and this person says that the production has assured him that all three films are set to film in Durango, and that they secured his job for the coming years as a supplier of production … He also commented that if things go well, “Dragonball 2″ could begin filming at the end of the first quarter of 2009, that is, within a year.

This is something that certainly is good news for fans and of course for the people of Durango, as this indicates that the trilogy will be shot in Durango, which makes sense, since it was revealed that some sets of Dragonball would stay in Durango even when filming was complete.

It also depends on how much is made at the box office and the acceptance of fans … But we hope that all goes well.

I did my best at translating. From what I can gather, it seems like they are indeed planning on a sequel with the same cast and crew and locations.

Dragonball Delay False?

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Huge news (or rumor) from Movieland

One of my most reliable sources has given me this story that has left me frozen and I believe you also, as someone very close to the production and much credibility he has revealed two things very important:

- The first: The change that was announced a few days ago is not definitive, because they had thought release in August this year, but they saw they had no time enough for editing and special effects, which is why they decided to delay the premiere.

- Second: The release date they are driving for at the moment and still being studied for the production and 20th Century Fox is December 2008. It is not official, nor safe … But it is likely that there will be changes in the release date.

So it seems that the distrust of many fans had reason this regard. It certainly was not an official statement of the Fox … Probably the only officer was Christina Inman did to my blog, but here is only an office in Mexico and do not take such decisions, so we can change.

So it’s likely the movie will be released in December of 2008! I really hope that’s the date they use, as it would be perfect.

King Vegeta is… Gary Oldman?

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Gary OldmanCineactual.net reports that it’s possible that Gary Oldman has landed the role of Vegeta’s father, King Vegeta in the movie. They explain it could be a short cameo at the end of the movie, though keep in mind this is just a rumor at this point.

While waiting since the first teaser-trailer or official picture, it consolidates the rumor that Gary Oldman can interpret Vegeta’s father, King Vegeta part it feels almost like a glove. Although it is slightly larger to interpret the son of the King, could appear in a role somewhat short in this film, perhaps in the end, giving way to the saga of the Warriors Space. We confirm the rumor soon.

UPDATE: The rumor has been confirmed to be false.

Wizard Magazine Revised

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

A reader who claims to have seen a revised issue of “Wizard” magazine, tells us that it will have a “massive exclusive” on the film.

Just a moment ago, I received scans (I can’t share, and I’d expect you to know why) of Wizard’s ‘revised’ issue. They were alerted about a week beforehand of the date change, and were shipped new images to host. As a teaser poster is not ready, but the prototype in the former issue (Chatwin, his back to us, our first amazing look at his hair and stature) wasn’t the first image the studio wanted out. So, it was swapped for two images and a few more interviews with the cast

Images

The first is Goku, his hair larger than expected and resembling the television show fiercely, watching from the sidelines at an Arena match. Curiously enough (and this was reported awhile back), a hot dog cart is in the background if you look hard enough.

The next image is our first clear, sure-to-make-everyone-excited look at Piccolo. He’s texture is awesome, and in the picture he’s launching someone over him (*not Goku). An amazing publicity shot to release. FYI, this was also from the earlier issue as the studio had no problems showing us the first look at Piccolo

Interviews

As for the interviews section, Bulma (Rossum) has now been interviewed. No blue hair — or at least, not that they could tell — she was excited to earn the role based on her audition — can’t wait to see the final product — loves her character — hasn’t studied the actual cartoon as the screenplay was well rounded and had enough of the mythology to fulfill her enough for the role.

Chatwin watched the animated show — loves playing this character — had to bulk up — doesn’t want anyone to be disappointed with his performance - thinks Wong’s awesome.

We can only hope that, if true, the issue will be released soon.

Filming Ends March 15th

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

It appears Movieland was wrong, and filming will conclude March 15th instead of March 9th. They say the cast will leave Durango at different dates, and the first is Chow Yun-Fat (Master Roshi) on March 7th. All of the cast will have left by March 15th.

A few readers have also said there is a possibility of a Dragonball trailer on March 21st, during the film Shutter. I don’t know if there’s any truth to this, but it’s possible since Shutter is being released by 20th Century Fox.
